Question: When someone contracts syphilis, how long do they have to receive treatment? Meaning, once syphilis is contracted, how long do you have to get treatment before it kills you? Also, is it possible to receive treatment when symptoms and conditions are at their worse?
Answer: yes you can get treatment anytime but why wait. It is a miserable debilitating death that can be easily eliminated. If you wait until the latent stages dementia is an inevitable part of that.
Question: What people were purposely given syphilis and by who? What people were infected with syphilis without their knowledge as part of an experiment? Why were these people chosen? Who did it and why?

Question: What was the justification for infecting blacks with syphilis? People called Wright's accusation that the US injected blacks with AIDS "racist", but without addressing the issue or the fact that criticizing government action (even a predominantly white government) isn't the same as criticizing an entire race. We know the US injected syphilis into blacks; maybe if we understood why they did it we can reduce the perfectly understandable suspicion by that population of US involvement with AIDS. So, what was US justification for infecting blacks with syphilis?
Answer: You got it half right. The govt. did not inject anyone with syphilis. They just pretended to treat the 'naturally' infected blacks as a secret form of research. It was an immoral policy, but racism and bigotry played a huge part in the decision to go ahead with the project. It was just one more act of discrimination, and was totally illegal! The 'justification' was that it was a medical experiment to study the long term effects of syphilis in humans. The "subjects" were not informed that they were "Guinea Pigs" for a medical experiment. How would that make you feel if you found out that your relatives were 'tortured' by our govt.? Would you tend to go to a church where the truth about this told? From the snarky racist and bigoted comments and rumors about Sen. Obama in the media,it looks like the same ignorant racism is still stinking up the country!
Question: Can a woman pass on syphilis to her newborn without passing it on to her mate? She tested negative for any STD's and VD's during her testing cycle with her OB/GYN. But, back in May 07 when our newborn was born, Syphilis showed up in his system. She then told me that she had contracted it 7 years earlier but was treated and cured. If that's true, then why didn't she pass it on to me? We did not have sex between Feb 07 and May 07. Could it be possible or likely that she contracted it during that time period since we did not have sex with each other.
Answer: if i am correct...syphillis is never really cured. it's treatable but not cure-able. so, maybe she just had a reoccurance of it.
i hope your boy is fine.
Question: How long does it take for SYPHILIS to show up in a blood test? After sex, how long should you wait until you get a syphilis test to make sure the virus has already shown up??
Answer: Syphilis is caused by the spirochete Treponema pallidum and is characterized by 3 sequential clinical, symptomatic stages separated by periods of asymptomatic latent infection. Common manifestations include genital ulcers, skin lesions, meningitis, aortic disease, and neurologic syndromes. Diagnosis is by serologic tests and adjunctive tests selected based on the disease stage. Penicillin is the drug of choice.
Venereal disease research laboratory (VDRL) test
A negative test is normal and means that no antibodies to syphilis have been detected. The screening test is most likely be positive in secondary and latent syphilis. During primary and tertiary syphilis this test may be falsely negative.
Rapid plasma reagin (RPR)- False-negatives may occur in persons with early- and late-stage syphilis. More testing may be needed before ruling out syphilis.
Fluorescent treponemal antibody absorption (FTA-ABS) test- A positive FTA-ABS usually indicates infection with syphilis. This test result will remain positive for life even if syphilis has been adequately treated. Therefore, it cannot be used to monitor the treatment of syphilis.
Question: I always thought Vincent van Gogh contracted syphilis from living with a prostitute? However, if sexually transmitted diseases are a fairly current thing, then how did Vincent contract syphilis?
Answer: "SYPHILIS" has been around for Centuries!
As for Columbus' men.....(to Joe C) .....they WERE EUROPEAN and BROUGHT the Disease (Syphilis) and other Diseases to the American Indians in 1492 (the Crew was ALREADY Infected...BEFORE they Arrived)!
NOT back to the Europeans in 1493...as YOU stated!
Your statement made it sound as if they got it in 'America' and brought it back to Europe..........
