Question: colerration between pulmonary functions and HRCT chest in stagging of interstitial lung diseases?
Answer: There are guidelines set for the staging of ILD's in relation to pulmonary function test results, I believe through the American College Of Chest Physicians. I think mostly based on FVC, Fev1, FEV 25%-75%, and a DLCo using a full body box.
As far as the High Res CT scan, I don't have a clue other than you can see the disease process on the scan.
Question: Aside from lung cancer, what other diseases can a shadow on a chest X-ray indicate? I had an annual physical examination last Dec. 6, 2006. I received the results almost three weeks after then the findings of my chest X-ray result said that there is a shadow so I need to be tested again for a detailed/precise examination of what that shadow on my chest X-ray means. It's more than two months now and I didn't feel any unusual pain (symptom) on my chest at all but I do experience some common colds because it's winter here in Japan. Next week I'll go to that hospital to undertake the more detailed exam of my chest. I am totally non-smoker by the way. Just kinda bit worry because all my X-ray results in the past years are normal. I'm trying to find out what other lung or heart-related diseases could a shadow on a chest X-ray indicate. I really appreciate any response for this matter. Thank you in advance.
Answer: A shadow could mean a lot of different things. It is not necessarily cancer at all. It could be an infection (new or old), a foreign body, a benign growth, a lymph node, or many other things. I'm sure a radiologist would have a much longer list. :)
The important thing is that you are going to go back and get retested. I hope it turns out to be nothing serious.
Question: can chest x-ray detect diseases like whooping cough or any other type of contageous cough?
Answer: chest xrays can determine tuberculosis which is contageous
Question: What different types of heart diseases do they have? I'm 23 & I saw a heart doctor yesterday, & so far, he told me that it doesn't look like I have heart disease from the EKG & ultrasound, but he has to run a stress test on a treadmill to see how I handle it. I get chest pains very easily simply just from walking the 1st 2 minutes. I know I'm overweight & I'm trying to lose it. But how can I if every time I try to exercise, I get chest pains? My Dr. said I'm too young for heart disease, & my PCP told me my cholesterol is a little high but not enough to be put on medication.
What kinds of heart diseases do they have? I hope I don't have it, & I'm trying to do my best to prevent it.
Answer: I have angina and wear a nitro patch..Ask about daily aspirin..
A coated childrens asprin takes the chest pain away quickly. you dont need a prescription for spray nitro. The side efects not pleasant :; pounding head etc.
Question: Can you get chest disease from the incense in church?
Answer: possible. unlikely. NOW! ask what you poison/respiratory disease etc you can get from inhaling fumes from combustion engines (cars/vans/buses/trains/aeroplanes/motorcycles/factories etc) & how about barbeques? foundries? in fact, maybe we ought to just unlearn mastery of fire altogether. we'll be hiding in caves from large predators again within a handful of generations.
Question: Could heart disease cause chest soreness to go on for over 2 months? In a overall healthy 26 year old FEMALE, having chest soreness, not pains, just all over soreness for over 2 months, could that be heart issues? She is going to the doctor July 3rd...she had insurance issues that were really messy, but are finally clearing up.
At any rate, she quit smoking around this time as welll. The chest issues started a couple weeks after quitting. Also, if you push on her chest, the pain is worse. It is a little scary.
Does anyone know the odds of this being heart related? Also, any other suggestions of what this could be?
Not looking to diagnose her, just eeze her mind til she can get into the doctor.
Anyone know what she can expect at teh dr?
Thanks.
As requested, I am giving more information. The pain is constant. It can come with her doing nothing at all, and is not made worse by doing anything like walking or any exercise. It is just pretty much always there. The soreness is all along the front of her chest. Sometimes her shoulders and neck will feel tense as well. And often times, if you push on it, it will feel worse.
Any suggestions appriciated.
Hope this is enough detail.
Answer: I would be the last one to tell you this is not a heart condition if I didn't think there was a chance it was.
What I can tell you is the symptoms you are describing are nothing like what I felt prior to being diagnosed with a heart condition or since.
With me the pain/discomfort that I felt was never constant. It would peek and subside according to the level of activity I was performing. There were times that I would feel pressure when I was doing nothing but it would usually subside after a while. Nausea also accompanies my episodes. Shortness of breath and light headedness. The amount of food I ate also had a effect on how I felt. As long as I only ate until I was no longer hungry and didn't stuff myself I wouldn't get any dicomfort after eating.
Nobody here can diagnose what your friend is going through. Only a Dr who examines her can do that.
The only advise I am going to give is if for any reason whatsoever your friend starts to feel worse to the extent that she is having trouble breathing then do not ignore it and don't wait for any darn appointment. Go directly to a ER. If she has trouble funtioning on her own AT ALL call a rescue squad.
Do not hesitate. I don't know whether this is something serious or not but I truly believe (based on what I know and have experienced) that what you describe does not sound like it would be an issue with her heart. I'm no Dr though.
Wish her well from us...
Question: pain in left arm and sometimes in chest. Could it be heart disease? I'm a 27 year old mother of three kids, i'm a light smoker and like the occassional drink. I've been getting a dull ache in my left arm and sometimes a pain in my chest. I had bloot tests done a few weeks ago and my doc said my triglycerides are high. Could this be related to my chest pain.
Answer: Nope. Absolutely not. Keep on smoking and drinking. You're fine. The pain is probably just from taking care of the kids - you know - holding them, cleaning up after them and such.
