Question: Has anyone ever heard of a Spitz Nevi, it is a type of skin mole? I had a mole removed. It was found to be a Spitz nevi. What I read about it says that it is hard to distinguish between it and melanoma, which scared me. So the dermotologist wants to biopsy more skin around the site, just as a precaution. She said it is "not melanoma" so why would she want another biopsy? (maybe zero liability) Anyway, has anyone else had this?
Answer: Here is a link..it is thought to be an autoimmune disease (your body is attacking itself)..

Question: anyone know about or have experience with spitz nevi moles? Well, I was diagnosed with melanoma but it turns out I actaully dont have cancer and its just a spitznevus mole. I guess this is a really conterversial thing and myne in particular becuase the doctors didnt really know what to do about it and I was just wondering if anyone else has one of these? I still had to get surgery to take it out but its much better than the lymph node biopsy and other treatments I would have needed!
Answer: The Spitz nevus mole is a non-malignant mole that is made up of melanocytes.Because of this, they are often confused with melanoma by the pathologist.Surgery is recommended but if the mole is not completely removed,it can grow back.I am sure you are relieved it wasn't melanoma!!!
