Question: What is the purpose of electrical stimulation on an injury? For example, when you go to a chiropractor with an injury, he might hook you up to a machine that uses electrical stimulation to that injuried part.
Answer: It depends on what type of electrical stim she is using. If you are using a TENS unit, then it is strictly for pain control. This will trick your brain into not feeling the pain. This can lead to a reduction in muscle spasm as a result in lessening the pain.
If you are using a IFC unit, there are many other benefits. Pain control, muscle spasm reduction, tissue healing, increase circulation to the area.
There are a few others that they can use, but these are the main two.
Question: electrical shock trauma injuries from electro-static machinery? see below for more info.? I was shocked by a high voltage/high amp industrial printing machine in May of 05. a combination of low voltage from a statically charged paper roll and the high voltage of the industrial machine(480v@60Amp). Could a person sustain a serious life threatening injury from this with long adverse affects from the shock trauma? Because I have Complex chronic pain syndrome now from the trauma injury!
Answer: I don't believe so.
Question: If you suspect an electrical injury, What shold you be sure to do? PLES Help
Answer: Turn off the supply before you try to do anything else.
Question: How to measure electrical impulses in the brain? There are many medical tests which involve measuring electrical activity in the brain (eg, the test for sleep apnoea). I have some electronics background and would be interested in trying to measure these myself. I expect to use a signal amplifier and display the output on an oscilloscope.
Where would I place the electrodes which form the input for the amplifier? How critical is their placement? What sort of potential differences are we looking at?
Any info that would help me design a suitable circuit would be greatly appreciated.
(I am aware of the necessity for electrical isolation and similar prevtitive measures to prevent injury in case of an electronic failure).
Answer: whose brain r u planning to experiment on?
Question: Baby is fascinated with electrical cords. How do I hide them or prevent an injury? I tried taping them to the floor and she pulled them out of the tape. Now she likes to yank on my computer's cords and my lamp. Something is going to fall on her yet! Suggestions?
Answer: Yeah my daughters the same...Every wire she pulls at...so what i done was gave her a playstation control!! Not plugged in but she sits on the floor and plays with it when im around so i can keep an eye on her but she doesnt go for the other wires as she has her very own!! Works for me its worth a try.
Question: What kind of injury can be gotten by sticking a piece of wire into an electrical outlet? My son and I were visiting a relative in a hospital the other day and I noticed him trying to put a piece of wire in an outlet. Luckly I was able to stop him but I have been wondering what kind of injury this would have caused or if it could have killed him. What would happen if he tried this at home or someplace else?
Answer: The wire would have to be placed in both holes to complete the circuit but the screw in the middle of the plate could ground the circuit to make it complete. A person could get a good shock and possible severe burns as it gets hot very quickly. I used to stick my finger in light bulb sockets when I was little and received a weird shock but it didn't do anything to me. Part of the severity could be if you are standing in a puddle which could make things very serious in terms of being shocked. Wall outlets with overload protection buttons will cut out before you get electrocuted. This child needs to be taught not to do this or be supervised until the child learns not to do this.
Question: What the most common electrical hazard? What are the hazards that can cause injury to humans?
Answer: Ah, someone was just killed today in Florida by a lightining bolt to the back of the head.
Question: i have an electrical shock injury to my wrist, what can I do to aid in healing, and deal with the pain?
Answer: you have to see a medical doctor for this type of injury. You can place an ice pack on the area for ten minutes, several times a day, but you really need a medical doctor.
Question: What would you do in each of the following? In the answer include:
* What you would do
* Symptoms
* Any special treatment you would administer.
a) Clothing on fire
b) Injuries from corrosive chemicals
c) Electrical contact burns
Answer: A) If clothing is on fire, smother flames with a blanket, coat, or anything thatll put out the fire. Avoid water, because it could be a gasoline fire, which in this case it could spread the fire. Unless you know no flammable liquids are involved. Do not remove clothing stuck on the skin.
B) Treatment of corrosive chemicals usually involve Poison control and immediate rescue. Keep the victim calm. Find out what the chemical is and see what treatment it lists. Remove the soiled clothing.
C) For Electrocution, call rescue. If the victim is not breathing, administer CPR. When breathing has started, elevate the victim's feet and keep him/her warm to avoid shock.
