Question: My mother shows all the signs of Paranoid Personality Disorder. Does anyone with this ever except it? I read a very good book about it and left it on a table at her house hoping she might pick it up and read it. Answer: Be careful about diagnosing your mother. Some of the criteria can overlap and you really need a professional to diagnose her. Take a look at http://www.thenook4pds.com
There are others on that site that you can speak to that might be able to guide you. Good luck sweetie, my mother was personality disordered too.

Question: How to tell my spouse he is suffering from paranoid personality disorder with psychotic features.? He feels that he is perfectly alright and is a very un co-operative patient. Help please. Thanks
Answer: If he is paranoid then you don't need to tell him anything. he will just see you as part of the problem. the fact that he has psychotic features can make him very dangerous. If he has actually been seen by a mental health professional and received the above stated diagnosis and is being uncooperative or medication non-compliant then you need to contact that mental health professional right away. If you agitate a paranoid person and he reaches an acutely psychotic state you have a serious problem on your hands. If he is not taking his meds contact a mental health professional.
Question: How can people get Paranoid Personality Disorder and Avoidant Personality Disorder? How can people get Paranoid Personality Disorder and Avoidant Personality Disorder?
Answer: It is usually triggered by a stressful situation and or trauma. I have General Anxiety Disorder and let me tell you it certainly is not fun! It takes a very long to control, it really never goes away you just learn to understand it deal with and let it pass. It is by chemicals in your body; I don't think that anyone really understands the causes of anxiety disorders.
P.S. Did you know that the human is the only species capable of putting intself in a state of panic!

Question: Mother with Paranoid Personality Disorder - Is there anything I can do to help? It is close to if not impossible to have a relationship with my mother. She accuses me of having secret agendas tells me I am always lying to her. I fell bad for her but do not know how much I can take.
Any advice?
Answer: YOU know you're not lying to your Mom, and YOU know you don't have any secret agendas. What your mother thinks of you is therefore incorrect, and is skewed by her disorder.
Realizing that your mother is mentally ill is the first step towards detaching from her. She cannot give you the approval and trust you want from her. It's like walking into Home Depot looking to buy a loaf of bread -- you ain't gonna find it there.
Depending on your age, you need to find another source of approval and trust. Perhaps another parent or relative, or maybe a friend. When you must interact with your mother, keep in mind that she is SICK, and cannot help you or herself.
If you're old enough to be on your own, you may want to choose the times when you see your mother, and brace yourself for the kind of accusations you've gotten from her before.
It is NOT a minor child's place to "fix" his or her parent. If you must continue to live with her, remember that everyone deserves to have a safe place to live in. If you don't feel safe at home, tell someone in authority like a school nurse or an adult relative. Living with mental illness isn't easy on your mother either, and she may need professional help to get through this.
Question: How do you know if you have OCD or paranoid personality disorder? everyone on here says my symptoms are of paranoia but I have been diagnosed with OCD. How can you tell?
Answer: Please talk to a mental health professional, not random people on Yahoo Answers ... this is your life and not everyone here has your best interest at heart.
Question: Is Paranoid Personality Disorder part of a larger categorization?
Answer: Type B personality disorders...verify but I think that is correct.
