Question: is brainstem glioma a curable brain tumor??????? pls reply as sson as u can...plzzzz

Answer: Hello, Glioma's come in different degrees of 'aggression,' but in general they are a dangerous type of cancer to have. The brain stem is a part of the brain where lots of different nerve trunks are concentrated together in a small space. This makes destroying a cancer there, without damaging the other essential items of brain around it, difficult. Perhaps it was pressure on these nearby items that gave the patient the symptoms in the first place, I don't know. Nothing is impossible in medicine, but in my opinion a brain-stem glioma is very difficult to cure. I hope this is of some help. Best wishes, Belliger (retired uk gp)
