Question: My wife has Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome post embryo transfer and it is resolving. Does that mean a BFN? My wife is undergoing IVF and she developed OHSS 1 day after the embryo transfer. Today is day 8 and she is feeling better. Unfortunately, she is getting nervous because she is concerned that she did not get pregnant? Anybody know if OHSS can get better and one can stil be pregnant?
Answer: The good news is that she can still get pregnant. In fact, pregnancy can set off OHSS in some cases. I suggest you read the article - it explains it better than I ever could.

Question: I have ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome can i get pregnant i been pregnant twice before i got this syndrome? its been 5 years ago when i got pregnant
Answer: Most people only get OHSS as a side-effect of some sort of fertility drugs, like Gonal-F or Follistim. Are you on these type of medications? If so, your doctor can coast you on the meds to keep your OHSS from flaring up too much and that will give the eggs time they need to mature. I have seen many women suffering from OHSS on the fertility boards I post on get pregnant while suffering from it, so it can definitely happen with the right medical care and supervision.
Question: Has anyone had a BAD experience as an egg donor? I have heard about risks of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, infections, infertility, unintended pregnancy, feeling regret over giving up your "child" ... Anyone experienced any of these things? Would you recommend becoming a donor?

Question: Can you have Ovarian Hyper-stimulation Syndrome if you don't take fertility drugs? Ruptured ovarian cyst? I went to ER w/severe LLQ pain which then moved to all over abdomen. U/S & CT showed enlarged left ovary w/multiple cysts up to 2.7cm & 4.5cm. No diverticulosis (which was a ??). Nausea was from pain, no vomiting or D. No fever. WBC 13. Today, belly is very tender, bloated, slightly spasmotic like it was but much less. Pain has improved but is not gone. I ate food today and that didn't affect pain. Previously, I had hysterectomy and Rt. ovary removed. I'm wondering what the chances are that it is/was a ruptured cyst...and if so, what the possibilities are of those other pesky cysts rupturing. Can you have OVARIAN HYPERSTIMULATION if you are not taking fertility drugs? I'm 43 and have had ovarian cysts in the past that were not this painful...and didn't rupture. I had no other symptoms until the pain hit yesterday. It was worse than labor. I'm worried about it happening again (and it hasn't gone away yet). Thanks in advance for your thoughts...
I saw my doctor yesterday..we'll be scheduling surgery to get the ovary out. She said, "Its huge...its got to go!" Out with it! I feel better but still have some pain.
Answer: You don't say why you had your uterus and R ovary removed, but it could be related if it was something like endometriosis or PID. Ruptured cysts hurt, but you should have had free fluid on the tests. Torsion of the ovary is another possibility and could explain all the findings. Hyper-stimulation doesn't occur without fertility drugs.
GI diseases could be the source as well, it was probably diverticulitis(imflammation of diverticulosis)they were looking for. But with the enlarged ovary(the 4.5 cm cyst may rupture), it sounds like your Dr thinks that's the source. If you are done with wanting to have a baby(43 still OK for some), then it makes sense as it could recur as you noted. So best of luck.
Question: White lie needed: why can't she go flying? A friend of mine has developed ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome following fertility treatment. She is due to fly to the US for a business meeting next month but has been advised not to. She doesn't want to disclose the treatment and its complications to her colleagues. Who knows the perfect white lie? It has to be compatible with her having a very swollen abdomen.
Answer: The best advice is to just be honest. She should only have to tell her boss the real reason. She can just tell her "colleagues" that she's sick.
