Question: Can a Cytotex abortion in 2005 cause Gardnerella vaginalis or bacterial vaginosis after 2 or 3 years? Can a Cytotex abortion in 2005 cause Gardnerella vaginalis or bacterial vaginosis after 2 or 3 years? Why have antibiotics failed to treat the infection? And how can it be treated?
Answer: No, I don't believe that your abortion would cause such a thing.
A lot of women suffer from chronic BV. (bacterial vaginosis). A leading culprit in it seems to be an exposure to semen in the vagina. Semen is alkaline and your vagina is acidic - the introduction of semen into the vagina causes the PH balance to be thrown off - causing for an over growth of bad bacteria (gardnerella). Also, near the time of your period your hormone levels drop and this can cause for bacteria overgrowth.
Other factors can be related to stress, tight fitting clothing, washing the vaginal area with perfumed soaps, etc....
A lot of women also have little, sometimes, no success with antibiotic treatment. There are other methods of keeping the PH balance normal such as taking Acidophulus supplements. 2billion+ per dosage. Also yogurt is found to help, plain yogurt only. There's a product called Rephresh which restores the vaginal PH - but it is costly and not a permanent long term solution.
good luck.
Question: How serious is a Gardnerella vaginal infection more than 3 months long?
Answer: How long has it been since you've had a complete physical? When was your last STD screening? Have you ever been checked for diabetes? Frequent vaginal infections and infections or sores that won't go away could be signs of diabetes or a weakened immune system. You should go back to the doctor or get a second opinion from a different doctor.
Question: Does anyone knows what is Gardnerella vaginalis? Does anyone knows what is Gardnerella Vaginalis? How does one contact with such bacteria and what causes it? Thanks.
Causes and Risk Factors of Gardnerella Vaginalis
"It is assumed that the infection is sexually transmitted. The bacteria are also found in women without a history compatible with a sexually transmitted disease, and often produces no symptoms." --- Does it mean that it was transmitted by my partner? Is the bacteria origin by man or woman
Answer: Gardnerella is a genus of gram-variable bacteria of which Gardnerella vaginalis is the only species.
Gardnerella vaginalis can cause bacterial vaginosis in some women.
While typically isolated in genital cultures, it may also be detected from other sources, such as blood, urine and pharynx. Although a chief cause of bacterial vaginosis, it may be isolated from women without any signs or symptoms of infection.
Under the microscope it appears as a gram-negative rod, although it has been reported to have a gram-positive cell wall..It is associated microscopically with clue cells, which are epithelial cells covered in bacteria. G. vaginalis produces a pore-forming toxin, vaginolysin, which affects only human cells.
Infections with G. vaginalis go along with proteolysis, giving nitrous products such as cadaverines and putrescines, which can cause a bad smell and loss of water.
Treatment usually is metronidazole
Question: Gardnerella vaginalis how can you get this? Hi, i'm a bit confused as i been tested positive for Gardnerella vaginalis
on a std test but when i google this it states this is not classed as a STD infection, how can you get this as it not very clear to me, any help be great.
Answer: Gardnerella vaginalis is not an STD. It can become a problem when through various reasons their is an imbalance in the vaginal flora and organisms like G. vaginalis and certain anaerobes take over and cause vaginosis. It can also be found in the female genital tract without any disease at all. Finding it in culture means very little. Did you also show the presence of "clue cells"?
Question: Gardnerella only means you have bacterial vaginosis? My gyno tested me positive for having gardnerella and treated me for bacterial vaginosis. But I'm wondering if finding gardnerella in a culture might mean you have something other than BV? Or does it only mean you have BV?
Answer: Gardnerella is the name of the bacteria that caused BV (BV is a older, general term). So you have Garderella (period, that's all it means) and you got treated for it. Does that make sense to you?
Question: Can a Gardnerella infection be passed to a woman by sex using condoms?
Answer: Latex condoms provide protection from sexually transmitted diseases by preventing the infected area from coming into contact with the partner.
But Ponder On This....
the AIDS virus is only 0.1 micron (4 millionths of an inch) in size. the virus can readily pass through a condom should it find a passage.
Question: Can a new born baby be born with Gardnerella Vaginitis Infection? I got rapped found out Im pg decided 2 keep baby started haveing pains went 2 hospital & found out I have Gardnerella Vaginitis Infection so Im worried that the baby could be born with it.
Answer: You need to take some antibiotics to clear yourself up. If you were to deliver with an active case or flair up, there would be some complications with the eyes and possibly lungs. If you were in remission ( no active or open sores ) the baby is in fair shape. Your OB/GYN and the baby's pediatrician will be able to help you both out.
Good luck
Question: does anyone know anything bout the infection gardnerella? my friend caught it sexual contact, she has now had it for 8 weeks & has had anti-biotics & home remedies & is having a really tough time getting rid of, any help??
Answer: Gardenella Vaginalis is a bacterial infection of the vagina.
it is not clear that it is sexually transmitted; however,it is associated with sexual transmitted disease risk factors.
but no single organism has been identified. Also, treatment of male partners does not change the risk of reoccurrence in women - true of the other STDs. It may be sexually transmitted, but there is some thought that it is vertically transmitted from mother to daughter at birth. Don't get too paranoid about this one. It's very common and little known of the cause.
Question: Can You Still Have Sex While Infected/Getting Treated With Gardnerella? I have the infection but i am taking the medication as we speak and my boyfriend and i want to know if we have sex while i am still being treated will it hurt either one of us? Plz help
Answer: It's not a good idea to have sex while you have any kind of infection (getting treatment or not) because you can pass it on to your partner.
Wait until your treatment is over with and you are definitely clear of infection by your doctor's okay.
