Question: How is it possible to have an ovarian cyst while on hormonal birth control? A 4 cm ovarian cyst exists while on either birth control pills, or nuvaring. The doctor says it is a follicular cyst, yet all my research shows that hormones prevent and shrink ovarian cysts.
Pelvic pain/pressure has existed for several years, and many tests and procedures show nothing other than 1 cm fibroid & the cyst.
Answer: i was on the patch when i had my first cyst it was 5.5cm, the patch was hormonal, so i would say yes, after getting off the birth control it went down to 2.5cm.
hope this helps, and good luck!
Question: How can i tell if my ovarian cyst is twisted? I have an ovarian cyst and my doctor said it should go away on its own. He also said that I need to make sure it doesn't get twisted though. What are the symptoms of a twisted cyst?
Answer: I had that. Symptom is INCREDIBLE PAIN!!! Trust me, you'll know. If you feel severe cramping, then it's twisted and you need to go to the emergency room immediately.
Question: What happens after an ovarian cyst ruptures? I was diagnosed with a ruptured ovarian cyst 3 months ago. The symptoms prior to the rupture were pains in my lower right abdomen first in the middle of my cycle then at random times. One day I had really bad pains and an ultrasound revealed a ruptured cyst on my right ovary. My doctor prescribed some painkillers for the pain.
Since then the pain continues at mid cycle and a few days before my period. It seems to be increasing in intensity and duration, Is this normal?
Answer: You could have another one. I had one removed a few months ago and it is back now and continues to grow.
Question: What are some symptoms of an ovarian cyst? I think I might have an ovarian cyst. I had sharp pains in my side around my ovulation time, and i feel nauseous sometimes. I also have small pains when I eat. Has anyone had those symptoms with an ovarian cyst?
Answer: Ovulation can naturally cause women pain. Ovarian cysts can be very, very small, or they can grow to be very large. Do you ever have any pain at any other time? Ovarian cysts often cause extreme pain all the time. My friend had horrible pain all the time, but since she couldn't afford the doctors bills, she let it go. It finally got so bad that she was rushed to the ER. They did surgery and realized that it had grown to be the size of an orange. Most women experience weight gain, fatigue nausea, and abnormal bleeding. You should go to the doctor, and they will probably watch it for a couple months to see if it is growing. If it is something other than a cyst, it is still wise to see a gyno and have it checked out.
Question: How will I know when my ovarian cyst ruptures as far as symtpoms? Ihave a 2cm ovarian cyst. Go back for a ultra sound in a few weeks to watch it. Its very painful and I am off work so I am wondering when I will know or what I will feel when it ruptures if at all.
Answer: Pain. Intense pelvic pain. When one of mine ruptured, I couldn't even move. Luckily it only lasts for about 30 minutes depending on the cyst. You'll know!
It felt like everything in that general area seized. My vagina, cervix, uterus, ovaries and even my rectum. If you start feeling this, take some ibuprophen, sit and wait for the pain to subside. I had some nausea as well. My nurse told me she's had women who have had to pull off the highway because it was so intense. I don't want to scare you, but just prepare you.
Another thing - it's a good idea to inform your doctor after you think it's ruptured, they'll want to get you in for an ultrasound.
Question: Can an ovarian cyst make your abdomen swell? I had an ultrasound five months ago due to excess bleeding and was told I had an ovarian cyst (a small one). I had a D&C and the mirena coil inserted. Recently, my abdomen seems much fatter and I'm not sure if I'm just putting on weight due to a little less exercise or if the cyst could be causing this. Anyone got any experience of this? Thanks.
Answer: It potentially could cause abdominal swelling, but in that case, it would be fluid, which is hard, like a balloon filled with water. But fat is jiggly like jello.
Question: What are restrictions of having an ovarian cyst? I have an ovarian cyst that I had diagnosed two days ago, it is causing me slight pain, but not too bad. I am supposed to go out of town for a camping trip for the weekend and we'll be camping about 25 miles from the nearest town.
Is it wise to go, or do I need to be near a clinic until the cyst clears up? The cyst is 2.3 CM, and the doctor told me that it was leaking blood, probably because it was getting smaller.
Answer: stay by the clinic or dont go.
im sorry and i know you will be sad.
but i had one and it was actually an ovarian torsion
i had to get my tubes intied and stapled to my side and my appendix taken out.
i threw up 45 times in one day.

dont risk it!!!!
im 13 by the way. i got mine when i was 12
Question: Has anyone had an ovarian cyst that was so bad they had to remove your whole ovary? I am having surgery to remove an ovarian cyst from my right ovary tomorrow. My doctor has said that most likely they will have to remove at least my right ovary if not my right ovary and tube. I am only 27 I am very concerned right now about what might happen.
Answer: my wife had it done . simple op . her down time about 3 or 4 weeks.
Question: How big does an ovarian cyst have to be to get it removed? I have been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome in the past, I had a CT Scan done yesterday and it showed that I have a 4.3centimeter cyst on my left ovary and I am in pain! I am also haveing pain from my kidneys and kidney stones!
Answer: They often come and go with your cycle, so make sure that this one could actually cause a potential problem before going through the operation. I am sure that 4.3 centimetres is big enough for it to be removed. I had to have one removed which I'm sure was smaller than that. I'm not sure about the pain, but make sure you talk to your doctor about it.
Question: Has anyone had an ovarian cyst drained vaginally? Has anyone had hemorrhagic corpus luteum ovarian cyst drained vaginally? If you did, can you describe how it is done, how much pain, if you had anestisia and why the doctor chose to drain it instead of wait for it to go away by itself?
Answer: I had a cyst drained -- not sure of the technical name for it. I was put under general anesthesia, and the doc aspirated the cyst with a needle. It was totally painless, took about an hour, and I was back at work the next day. We waited a month for it to go away while I was on the Lupron (suppression) phase of an IVF cycle. It didn't shrink at all during that time. We didn't want to hold up the IVF cycle any longer, and I couldn't stay on the suppression drugs any longer without compromising the cycle, so we went with the needle aspiration.
Question: ovarian cyst? I had an ovarian cyst in july of 2006. My boyfriend think I have 1 again. But I dont want to go get it checked out. He keeps telling me to but I dont want to. Does any one know how you could tell if you have one and dont want to get it checked.I dont think I have one but I'm not 100% sure. It would be greatly apprecated. Please and thank you
Answer: hard to say without an ultrasound...could be a cyst
but if you are pregnant, it could be an ectopic pregnancy (which is a surgical emergency)
how about appendicitis...
constipation / gas...
good luck
Question: What does it feel like when an ovarian cyst bursts? Been having alot of pain and cramping this month. Thought it was due to ovulation but cramping was there for a few days, stopped for a few, and started again. I have been told I have cysts on my ovaries. What does it feel like if a cyst bursts? Also, if you have cysts on your ovaries does that mean you have polycystic ovarian syndrome?
Answer: Hi, No, having ovarian cysts doesn't mean that you have PCOS. I'll give you a link to a website that has some good information about ovarian cysts and PCOS. It explains it better than I can.
Good Luck

Question: What does it mean to have an ovarian cyst? I know what an ovarian cyst is, I want to know what comes with having one? I just had my appendix out and after I had my cat scan the surgeon said I have an ovarian cyst. I have always had some pain around the time of my period, but is that about it?
Answer: hello! I was in your boat last year. I had an ovarian cyst that was approx. 2cm, which is fairly large... it ruptured and i had one dime size drop of blood on the toilet paper from it, and then continual pain into the next day... similar to cramps but you know its not cramps. Many many women have ovarian cysts, most dont even know of them- they appear- they rupture and then they are gone... sometimes they cause people problems and they need to be removed (depending on the size) thats why if they are found, if you have a decent doctor they will tell you that it needs to be monitored for growth. If it grows to large it might have to be surgically removed.
good luck! hope this helps
Question: What does it feel like to have an ovarian cyst/other similar problem? I woke up yesterday with terrible burning pain all around the area where I would usually have menstrual cramps. After vomiting a few times, I felt relief but still felt some pain in the cramping area. Today, I still the pain in the same area. At first I thought it may be appendicitis, however the pain is not as bad and I am not running a fever or other classic symptoms. I am right around ovulation time right now, could this be an ovarian cyst problem or something else related to ovaries?
Answer: Yes it could be, I think you should see the doctor, it sounds like a cyst, and I hope the cyst did not break!! Good Luck!
