Question: Pityrosporum folliculitis? Anyone else out there with Pityrosporum folliculitis? What treatments have you found effective? I think I have tried everything with no luck. I hate dealing with it. I have it all over my back, check and shoulders. My dermatologist sugested putting my on accutane. Please help me!!
Answer: Well why don't you try Accutane?
It worked wonders for me.
Question: Has anyone heard of pityrosporum folliculitis? If so what treatments did you find to be effective?
Answer: Its when yeast gets down underneath your hair follicles and causes an infection. May look like tiny pimples. They mostly use antibiotics to cure. Can be caused by to tight clothing, oil-like or coconut oil sunscreen, oral steroids, oral contraceptives, being a larger person (sweat and moisture is harder is dry especially in the folds of the skin), etc. Picking or popping will make it worse. Also a main cause of why some facial acne won't go away.
Question: Pityrosporum folliculitis: Calling all Dermatologists? i have had pityrosporum folliculitis and seborrheic dermatitis on my head, face and in my ears for 3 years now and i would like to know if there is any way of clearing it up.I have been to see many differant dermatologists and they told me i would have to take antibioics for the rest of my life and it would never go away. I just want to know if there is any way of getting it to go away for good.
Answer: i really feel for you i have had folliculitis on my thighs for around three years also seen many dermatologists. but to no avail. recently it got really bad and i search the internet for some one who had been cured of this dreaded skin disease. anyway i came across a product called tetrasil, please read here. www.myfolliculitiscure.com/
i read abit about it and just purchased a 14mg tube for £15 from: www.Tetrasilointment.co.uk without any problems and free delivery it arrived in 2 days.
ive just applied the first batch to my legs today. sorry i cant tell you it works yet. but i keep you posted.
p.s as you know, folliculitis can be very depressing, and the way i see it for £15 its worth a try. good luck.
p.s. its been 3 days now ive applied the stuff 3-4 times and amazingly it has cleared up!!! now the waiting game starts to see if it returns....
Question: Anyone have pityrosporum folliculitis? Does anybody with this condition experience a strong odor? I have acne and boils covering my chest and back of shoulders. It seems like the affected areas have a strong sulfuric odor that gets worse when I start to perspire. I am currently treating it with a benzyol peroxide body scrub over the affected area. It seems to be SLOWLY drying up after a couple weeks of treatment. I have a strong suspicion I have been battling with yeast for years and has brought me to pityrosporum folliculitis. I have read a couple people say they experienced a sulfuric odor due to this condition, however it sounded like when they brought it up with their Dermatologist they have never heard of such a thing. Has anybody else experience an odor in general with this condition?
Thanks
Chet
One more thing I forgot to ad is that the affected areas are extremely itchy! I try not to itch them but when I do the pain is seriously no joke.
Update...After applying the benzoyl peroxide it almost seems like the smaller pimples are getting deeper and turning into painful boils. I would go to the Dr. but I won't have enough money till next month. Anyone?
Answer: Never had that problem but.. it's caused by yeast from either:
# The yeast tends to overgrow in hot, humid, sweaty environments, clothing that doesn't "breathe" especially synthetics, which encourages sweating.
# Application of greasy sunscreens and oily emollients such as coconut oil.
# An oily-skin tendency - the yeast feeds on skin oil. Skin oil production mainly depends on hormone factors.
# Decreased resistance to microorganisms (immunity).
# Stress or fatigue
# Diabetes
# Oral steroids such as prednisone
# Oral contraceptive pill
# Being overweight, resulting in more sweating and tighter clot
If you can bear the pain use alcohol to kill the yeast.
Here is a link to treatment good luck.
Question: Yeast & fungus causing this acne on my face?!? I have had a major problem with acne for the longest time. I went to a dermatolgist, and she said it could very possibly be a fungal infection called pityrosporum folliculitis that is on my face that imitates acne. That's why, she said, none of the acne creams has worked for me. So, she prescribed Oxystat. Anyone heard of it? Anyone have this infection as well?
Answer: I haven't had acne, but have had many problems with eczema caused by yeast infections in the bloodstream (according to Naturopathic physicians). As you have already gone to such lengths with the usual medical route, why not look into an alternative solution? There is a product called "Yeast Fighters" which is available without prescription. You can find it at the health food store. I haven't heard of Oxystat, & I hope it works for you...but in the long run perhaps getting to the source & removing it will eliminate the need for dermatologists & acne creams forever.
