Question: Dementia question. I really need an answer? My mom has just recently been diagnosed with Frontotemporal Lobe Dementia. I've googled it and didn't get many results that gave me much information. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a good website I could visit for more info on it. I want to know as much as I can so I can help her in the best way possible. It's very heartbreaking to know that there is nothing the doctors can do for her and that she will eventually die from it :(
Answer: You might try googling Pick's disease, the more common term in the past.

Answer: That is a very big word for a very common condition, dementia. How old is your mother? My mother died from complications of Alzheimer's disease at about 64. My former wife who is 77 has Alzheimer's disease. Treat her with kindness and compassion and cheer on any improvement. There is nothing you or anyone else can do about the fronto-temporal lobe. The brain is after all inaccessible. But her emotional and physical needs are not. Do not "telegraph" your heartbreak to her but treat her as a loving daughter would treat their mother.
Just look up "dementia" to find links on how to minister to people who have it. The care is about the same for whatever cause.
