Question: Should a woman take birth control for dysfunctional uterine bleeding? Should a woman who has heavy menstrual bleeding use birth control pills to help regulate bleeding and prevent/treat anemia?
Answer: Yes- but go consult with the doctor-they will know what is best for you & oyur body!
Question: Dysfunctional uterine bleeding what can I do to stop.? I have had DUB for a while it can go as much as bleeding for 3 monthsn non stop. I went through some test done, biopsy, and aniema. I went through birth control and the depo shot and nothing helps. What should I do?
Answer: Hey, I've been through all the same stuff. They finally put me on Progestin and that has stopped the bleeding. However, I'll have to stop taking it at some point and then I'm likely to start bleeding again. This happened a couple years ago and they had to do a D&C to make it stop. If you find out what's going on, please let me know since we probably have the same problem.
Question: I was diagonsed with dysfunctional uterine bleeding and only prescribed doxcycline for an infection too.? I was diagnosed with dysfunctional uterine bleeding and only prescribed doxcycline for an infection along with the dysfunctional uterine bleeding. I need to know what will happen now and if I should ask them if I need a D and C and any other forms of treatment. I assume that in the ER, they would've gave me something, but I am still extremely exhausted and in severe pain with cramping. I sometimes have clear discharge that pours out and spotting of brownish blood. What will happen now with this diagnoses and what should I consult with my doctor about?
Answer: I hope that, when you were discharged from the ER, they gave you a copy of the labs that were done there and some notes from the visit there that you could take to your own ob-gyn for follow up. If not, you can call the medical records/health information dept. of the hospital where you were seen and have them fax the info. to whomever you're seeing for follow-up. When you call to make an appt. with your physician, request a "test of cure" which is just a a culture to verify that the antibiotic cleared whatever infection was present.. Then describe to them all the bleeding and pain, and other symptoms you've had. There will be some other diagnostic tests done(blood work, ultrasound, possibly an endometrial biopsy) so that a proper diagnosis and treatment plan can be made. Sounds like you need to move forward with this soon since you're still not feeling well. Take care.
Question: question about dysfunctional uterine bleeding? For about 8 years I have had total maybe 5 periods-for the last year I have had a period every 2 weeks-sometimes weekly and its getting so annoying...The cramps, back aches, fatigue..etc is too much-one doctor said don't worry about it-its part of DUB-should I go to another doctor?
Answer: I would go to another doctor. Perhaps you could get a referral to an OBGYN, instead of a general practitioner if you haven't already. It could be something serious, so you need to be proactive for your health, and not let one doctor dismiss it as normal. You might also try some women's herbs like black cohosh, or vitex. They may or may not work, but what is the harm in trying?
Question: Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding? I have a vaginal ultrasound and a biopsy scheduled for later this month. I have had a period for over a month now- not heavy but continuous. Went to the dr. yesterday and although I was given the term, DUB, it seems very general to me and anything I look up online doesn't really describe whats happening. She did say she doesn't know what the cause is and I would rather hear that and be in limbo for the next month or so rather than 'it's a fluke period, here's birth control'
A little more info.: Had a baby 6 mths ago, my husband had a visectomy(sp?) and 2 or 3 normal periods after the "sperm free" from his dr. Thansk for whatever help you can provide!
Answer: See if this helps. It's WebMD and shows there are 37 links about this.

Question: dysfuntional uterine bleeding? i just got home from the hospital due to problems from dysfunctional uterine bleeding. i was given an iv. i am still feeling very dizzy. i know i need to go back to the hospital(the check out paper says to if i feel dizzy) but it is too expensive. is this normal after having this happen to you? how dangerous is it?
Answer: I'm sorry you are feeling bad, but yes you need to go back to the doctor. I'm assuming the gave you an iv, because you had lost so much blood.. yes maybe it is expensive, but you don't have to pay up front, and most importantly you life, and health are much more important then money. Please take care of yourself.
Question: Keep gyn appointment when bleeding? I have a gyn exam on Tuesday and I am still bleeding heavily from my period (I have Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding and it causes an abnormally heavy flow as well as clots). Should I keep the appointment when I am bleeding so bad? Or should I reschedule?
No, the uterine bleeding is not why I am going. I am going for a regular check up since I haven't been in over 2 years.
Answer: If it is for your annual pap smear, they will have you reschedule it anyway. (I know from experience.) Unfortunately I waited to let them know until I was in that little paper gown. If it's for something else you can always call and ask what they suggest before going.
Question: Bleeding constantly through Microgynon usage? I was recently put on Microgynon for dysfunctional uterine bleeding (doctor told me it would regulate my period). For the first five days I stopped bleeding (after three constant months of nonstop bleeding previous to the pill), and then I've bled ever since. I've just started my "seven pill-free days" but I'm bleeding even heavier now.
Is this meant to happen on the first few weeks/months of this pill? I'm going to make an appointment with the doctor anyway but I'm quite stressed out (as anyone could imagine) as not only is my bleeding still going on but now I'm always getting cramps as well (which was never the case before).
Anyone know more about microgynon and the effects?
Answer: Oh god, i had the same thing. For about 2 and a half months i bled so badly that i could barely move. However, i was put on microgynon and that very day, it stopped. However, i think a little while later, i sort of started bleeding on it again, but as my body got used to it, it doesn't now. Try and give it a chance, seriously. But if you just can't bear it anymore, then please go to the doctor. I know how you feel, and tbh most of the time i just wanted to die.
I wish you the very best of luck!
Question: What is the average age for heart failure? I am young, any need to worry? I am 20 going on 21 and I was just wondering if young people were at risk for such a thing. Also, I had one of those heart tests where they stick those round things on your chest a year or two ago and they said my heart was fine. I also had a trip to the ER the other day and they did a blood test and only found out that I have DUB - Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding. Everything else was negative. So does that mean I'm okay? Thanks so much!
The only thing I need to worry about is that I'm a bit overweight. Nothing really bad but I do have a little high blood pressure. Thank you all so much for the helpful replies :)
Answer: heart failure is rare before your 50's so relax
Question: Second round of Clomid didnt work? I am starting to get discouraged. I took my second round of clomid (100mg) about 10 days ago. Yesterday I started spotting brown and small red clots. This is normal for me because I have DUB (dysfunctional uterine bleeding). It is just so disapointing when you think its working, and it doesnt.
Now I'm doubtful if clomid is even going to work at all.
How long did it take for you to conceive on clomid?
Answer: My highest dose was 150 mg for 7 days vs the norm of 5 days. I ovulated once out of three times on that dose. 50 mg and 100 mg did nothing for me. I then moved onto injectables meds and I do ovualte on those. I have PCOS, which hinders the effectiveness of Clomid. For some women it works great, others not.
It is worth trying 150 mg dose and be sure that you are ovualting. Make sure the Dr. is monitoring your cycles checking for ovulation.
