Question: abruptio placentae? I'm about six months along. I started having vaginal bleeding (bright red blood, not too heavy, but not super light either), friday afternoon (3/14). It has not gone away, and has gotten a little bit heavier, with some clots. Could this be a ruptured placenta that has gone unnoticed for several days?
basically I'm asking if it's possible for bleeding to go on this long without anything bad happening? Or could it not be abruptio placentae afterall?
Answer: Have you gone to the hospital? You should have gone immedately the very first time you noticed bleeding.
Question: can you please give me the schematic diagram of abruptio placentae?
Answer: Hope this helps

Question: What is a subsequent pregnancy like after a c-section and placenta abruptio?
Answer: After you deliver via C-section, usually subsequent pregnancies are done the same way. Placenta abruptio should have no affect on later pregnancies. Your OB may consider you high risk and monitor more closely.
Question: I have a slightly detached placenta (also known as Placenta Abruptio). Will I have to have a C-Section? Has anyone else had this before? What are the odds that I will have to have a cesarian over a vaginal birth? Thanks.
I would rather be prepared knowing that I may have to have a c-section rather than finding out later.
please do not say "discuss with your doctor" of course I will talk to my dr about this. However, I know that nurses, midwives, and other ladies on here know about this and can give me their experience. Thanks.
Answer: Not necessarily.....only if it is severe, meaning if the placenta's detaches itself from the uterine wall ...... the baby is no longer getting oxygen or nutrition. Immediate delivery is almost always recommended, often by cesarean section.
You may be advised to take complete bed rest untill your baby is born....

Question: what is the difference between abruptio placente & placenta previa?
Answer: Abruptio placentae is a premature separation of the placenta from the uterine wall. It can occur in three different degrees of severity, from mild to severe, with the least being a small separation and the worst being a total separation. It can cause abdominal pain and bleeding and threaten the life of mother and baby. Placenta previa is when the placenta either partially or totally covers the cervix at the base of the uterus. If the mother's cervix begins to dialate, there could be severe bleeding and it could be dangerous to mother and baby, so these babies are usually delivered by c-section. Both of these conditions would be visible on ultrasound as well.
Question: abruptio placenta caused by imferon injection?
Answer: A lot of times a placental abruption is caused by a blood clot or other obstruction in the placenta or umbilical cord. I had an abruption at 38 weeks and they didn't really give me a cause for it. 2 years later I had a miscarriage (and a change in doctors) and they tested me for an mthfr mutation. It ends up that I do have the mutation and they were unsure as to whether it caused the abruption and the miscarriage or not but the more I read about it the more I think it probably did. An mthfr mutation causes your blood to have a hard time absorbing folate and b-vitamins thus causing your blood to clot unnecessarily. This is especially dangerous in pregnant women. I read on WebMD that imferon should not be taken by women with these problems so if you have an mthfr mutation (even without knowing it) it could have possibly caused problems that brought about the abruption but who knows, really.
Question: Why is there bleeding in placenta previa? Why is the bleeding painless? And how is it different with Abruptio Placenta?
Answer: The bleeding is painless because it inside of you and a abruptio placenta is not that differnt from it
