Question: the mucosa of my lips are scaling off everyday. I had a bad habit of chewing on my lips.do I have oral cancer? i'm 22 yrs old and i've stopped chewing on my lips but this persists...it started maybe a yr ago....

Answer: I suspect that what is scaling away is the "vermillion" of the lips; the bit that shows with the mouth closed. The mucosa is inside the mouth. If your lips are peeling, I doubt it would be oral cancer. If you have any chronic irritation of the structures inside the mouth, then there is a risk of oral cancer. I suggest that you consult a dentist, if you have not had a teeth checkup for a while, as they are trained in examination for oral cancers, as are doctors. If you have a problem with that, see a doctor about it.
