Question: Eosinophilic gastroenteritis? I just got released from the hospital after a terrible flare of so-called "IBS," (which I've had for years, but has recently worsened) in which I lost an additional 5 lbs in one week (making me officially underweight, which is new for me), suffered intractable abdominal pain, and became dehydrated from loss of fluids (diarrhea).
They've done upper endoscopy, where they found: erosion of the esophagus, eosinophils, erosion of stomach and duodenum, duodenal diverticula, and stricture at esophageal juncture. Also possible inflammation and/or diverticula in the jejunam. Colonoscopy showed nothing, but biopsy results are not back. Capsule endoscopy of the entire small intestine has been done, but results are pending.
What do you think? Eosinophilic gastroenteritis? IBD? Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome? Mast cell disease? Diverticulitis (of the small intestine)? Whatever it is, I keep having awful pain and diarrhea and am close to returning to the ER!
Answer: Only your doctor can answer that for you.

Answer: Eosinophilic gastroenteritis is a tough condition to treat. Sometimes, it's actually due to a food allergy. Has he seen an allegist to see which foods are the cause?
Question: What are whole food proteins? I have a digestive/autoimmune disease (eosinophilic gastroenteritis) and none of the normal treatments or therapies have worked for me. I still have "attacks" 1-2 times monthly and they are debilitating. I've read in several different places that "whole food proteins" are sometimes thought to be the cause of such attacks. Perhaps eliminating such foods from my diet can make my disease more manageable. But what foods contain "whole food proteins?"
Answer: This is from the website for The American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders. Good luck!

Question: Can anyone suggest any nice recipes using no gluten, no dairy, no egg, no soya and no tomato? My son has eosinophilic gastroenteritis with multiple food allergies and he is sick of eating boiled vegetables! Especially useful would be tasty sacues for meat or veg, cakes or biscuits, anything convenient for taking around as a snack.
Answer: you are gonna be very hard pressed to find anything that doesnt have soy, dairy, eggs or gluten as most things that dont have gluten have soy as a replacement. i suggest searching for gluten free vegan recipes and see what you find.
