Answer: The swelling is very normal and your doctor should have told you upfront about it. Some doctors recommend ice packs and others don't. I suggest that you call your doctors office and see what they recommend. You should have also received paperwork from the hospital giving you instructions for the first 2 weeks of home care and special instructions for the first 48 hours so that you know what to expect.
