My 9 month old had very high fever (105 deg) and it got over with rashes .. something which is described on the web as Roseola Infantum .. now he is still clingy and cranky and is not eating properly. Is that normal.. when do they get back to eating, drinking and playing normally
Answer: If he has no other symptoms, I'd wait about 48 hours before having the doctor check that nothing else was going on. I'd still push the fluids and feed him lightly. A high fever can leave you feeling pretty wiped.

Question: what do you tihink of my essay for school. be brutal.? To many people, Marlee Beth Matlin is a superstar. This woman is deaf, but she is an actress. She did what many people thought impossible for the deaf-she became an actress.
Matlin was born on August 25, 1965 in Morton Grove, Illinois. She was born to Don and Libby Matlin, as their third child. She wasn’t born deaf, but at the age of eighteen months, she became deaf because of Roseola Infantum (“ is a benign disease of children, generally under two years old, whose manifestations are usually limited to a transient rash ("exanthem") that occurs following a fever of about three day's duration”). So at eighteen months, she lost 80% of her hearing in her left ear. Her older brothers, Eric and Mac, and her parents learned sign language so they could also communicate with her. As a young deaf child, the other children didn’t accept her deafness, so her mother encouraged Matlin to spend time at Chicago’s Center for deafness.
Despite being deaf, she made her stage debut at the age of seven as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. Throughout her childhood she appeared with the same group of children. At the age of eight she also acted in Peter Pan.
She went to John Hersey High School- a public high school. She was among the first generation to set foot in a public high school instead of the private deaf school. The school offered non-hearing and hearing programs.
She didn’t think of becoming an actress because she felt as if there wasn’t an opportunity for her. So putting that thought aside she enrolled in Harper Junior College and began studying criminal justice. She also quit this idea and said, “There wouldn’t be enough deaf criminals out there to keep me working.”
To begin her acting career, her friend persuaded her to go audition for the play “Children of a Lesser God.” She landed the role of Lydia who was a minor character. The film producers saw her performance and wanted her for the movie. Matlin was afraid of failing, but she did it. This brought her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in Drama and an Academy Award for Best Actress. This started her career as an actress, she has appeared in many films and has guest starred in quite a few shows.
She married law enforcement officer, Kevin Grandalski on August 29, 1993. She currently has four kids: Sarah Rose-born 1996, Brandon-born 2000, Tyler-born 2002, and Isabella Jane-born 2003.
Answer: i would say a little more info on her kids but otherwise you did a good job!!!!
Question: I have a 7 month old son, last week he was hospitalized because of an on and off low grade fever? WE had CBC taken 3 times but the only abnormal thing was the slight lowering of his monocytes and white blood cells. The dcctor said it was viral, after ruling out Dengue. He was also put into dextrose because he was dehydrated caused by his low intake of water and milk when he started to have those fever. He has already been discharged after the doctor noticed rashes on his body as the findings pointed to roseola infantum as the cause. Now he eats semi solids like before, drinks water... But he still refuses to drink his milk formula. I have to wait until he sleeps so that he could drink the formula i prepared. I don't want him to be admitted agai, what should i do? What couldve triggered this?... He is also teething, in fact he has his 3rd and 4th set of teeth coming out simultaneosly... I'm just worried because on the 1st and 2nd pair of teeth, he was eating and drinking well...
Answer: You mention teething...we have been through *hell* with teething recently, and believe it or not (I did not!) it actually COULD be from teething. My youngest was hospitalized friday evening - saturday night with very high fever (105.4), etc. It came out of nowhere- she had been a bit fussy, with loose stools etc, but is getting her second set of teeth (*FOUR*- how cruel) and when I woke her from her late afternoon nap on friday, she was suddenly 105 degrees and a bit out of it- so we just went ot the ER before even calling the pediatrician. They gave her fluids and pain relief, and as the tests were all normal sent her home after 24 hours with the note that if she stops drinking fluids, it's back to the hospital ASAP.
While at the hospital, I was told by the attending and by our own pediatrician that there are a handful of children who get truly *very* ill with teething. Not many, but it happens; not runny stools and slight fevers, but high fevers, possible seizures, true diarrhea,, etc. She is my third and I've certainly never experienced anything like THIS. I would try to give milk in small amounts but as long as baby is drinking water (and you may actually want to add some diluted juice for glucose at this time), the point is to get through this rough patch.
Give it a few days.
I'd suggest adding some infant probiotics to his beverages to help his GI tract get back on track, they are helping my sweet girl. you can get them at any health foodstore.
Hang in there, it's tough to watch and hard to believe, but if it is teeth it will begin to resolve as they cut through. If not, ask for a repeat CBC in 2-4 weeks. Best of luck; I'm with you!
*I was also told it may or not happen this way again with the next teeth.*
Question: 15 Month Old Infant with Rash? My 15 month old son had Roseola Infantum about a week and a half ago. Like the usual symptons of this he started with a fever. Once the fever broke, he broke out into a rash. The rash still hasn't gone away!
The type of rash isn't the same anymore either - it started out as little flat dark dots. As the days continued the rash started changing texture and became more skin colored.
Now he has A LOT of small, skin colored bumps all over his legs, some on his arms, and just a little on his face. I've been to the doctor twice already. A couple of days ago we got some lab work done and all the results came out fine. She is going to refer me to a dermatologist because she doesn't know why my son has this condition.
Has anyone experienced this before? His rash doesn't bother him at all - he still eats, sleeps, plays, etc. It just looks gross!!
Thanks!
Answer: My son had roseola not that long ago too, it did take a long time for the rash to go away but it did. The dermatologist is probably the best solution to get a real answer. In the meantime, try oatmeal baths, fragrence free laundry detergents and gentler soaps like aveeno or aquaphor to see if maybe that helps.
