Question: Has anyone ever cleared up plaque psoriasis? I've had plaque psoriasis on my legs arm and scalp for a long time now. Its now growing on my back and slowly on my forearms and i'm really worried. Its hard to cover up the forearm thats why. I just want to know if anyone has ever cleared it up and what did you do/ apply/ or drink. Thanks.
by the way im 16 and i've had it for more than half my life.
Answer: Hi David L
Psorias may be connected with Vitamin D deficiency.
Here are some ideas for both an internal and an external approach.
Many people who find that their condition gets better when they spend plenty of time in the sun get relief in the winter by going to a tanning salon and using the UVB booth.
Others have found other ways to get UVB treatment at home without prescription such as buying UVB lights meant for reptiles kept as pets. Since your psoriasis is mostly on your extremities, that might be a good solution for you.
The Vitamin D Council is a good site to find out more about how much Vitamin D3 to take internally during the parts of the year when you don't get enough sunshine. They will also provide information about how to be properly tested to see whether you're Vitamin D deficient.
The combination of salt water and UVB (simulated beach!) seems to work especially well for some. Either regular cooking salt or epsom salts are effective when dissolved in a tub full of water.
Finally, while researching gallbladder and liver problems I came across studies which found that taking bile salts to aid digestion can help psoriasis. That would make sense from the standpoint that a diseased or sluggish liver can often manifest itself in various skin conditions.
I hope that helps some!
Good luck!
Question: I have plaque psoriasis, does desoximetasone and triamcinolone creams work the same? I was first prescribed desoximetasone, which seemed to work good, however was very expensive. I was then prescribed triamcinolona cream, and I was wondering if anyone know if one was better or what. Thanks!
Answer: Desoximetasone is a higher-potency corticosteroid than triamcinolone, but triamcinolone may provide just as much relief. You generally obtain the best results with "combination therapy", when you use a topical corticosteroid along with a medication like salicylic acid and or a vitamin D cream (calcipotriene). However, phototherapies are more effective than drugs and have fewer side effects than most systemic agents. In a 2000 analysis comparing psoriasis treatments, an advanced phototherapy called narrow band UVB achieved the highest complete clearance rate (86% of patients).
Good luck!
Question: I have plaque psoriasis on my penis, could it be causing the odor that is emanating from around my foreskin? My wife's pap smear came up clean so, I guess it's not the any of the usual suspects (yeast, etc.) I keep it cleaner than ever but, it still gets gooey and smells. BTW I am circumsized.
Thanks for the great answers guys, much appreciated.
Answer: Male Genital Odors (MGO) affects men of different ages. It is more likely to occur to men who are not circumcised, due to the moist environment between the foreskin and the glans, which is a favorable ground for development of fungi cells. NodorOâ„¢ targets the micro-fungi called tinea corporis that may be causing your MGO. However, MGO can also happen to men who are circumcised.
this product worked within 2 days application. Women have ALL SORTS of products on the market to care for feminine hygiene. This new product is a small miracle for very clean men who shower and wash daily but cant understand why, within hours, they are 'not so fresh". The simple answer is, that soap and water do not completely kill what causes the odor. I discovered this product while listening to an advertisment on the Howard Stern show.
Ladies tell your boyfriends and husbands and sons about the product. (i am not affliated with the company, and this is NOT SPAM...just a happy customer who is now squeaky clean and odor free all day long). Guys, tell your buds about it. If you workout and just get a little sweaty in that area, you will remain fresh becuase that particular fungai/bacteria that produces the characteristic and unmistakable odor has been destroyed.
good luck guy.
Question: Has anyone taken Humira for plaque psoriasis, if so how is it working? Side effects, etc? ? I have read several websites, but I like to get as much info as possible. I have also taken Enbrel, which I am considered a failed patient of.
Answer: I have been on Enbrel for two years and my psoriasis is starting to come back along with some aches and pains from the psoriatic arthritis. My rheumatologist wants me to start Humira next. I have heard good things about Humira and it's two less shots to do a month. It has the same side effects as Enbrel. If that doesn't help my next step is Remicade. Good luck I hope it helps you!

Question: Does anyone with psoriasis (guttate or plaque) have any tips or suggestions on how to deal with it? My son has had a bad outbreak, he is age 21, and contracted it after strep throat which he had twice this year.
Answer: Hi SHerri
Here are some ideas on how to heal the issue.
Cause
Psoriasis is metabolic in nature and can be triggered by environmental or stressful conditions, poor diet, flu-like conditions, the administration of penicillin, and nutritional deficiencies. Patients with psoriasis are also a higher risk of rheumatoid diseases.
Psoriasis can be caused by food allergies, essential fatty acid deficiencies, low digestive enzyme and hydrochloric acid levels, vitamin B complex deficiencies, emotional stress, illness, drugs (such as beta-blockers, lithium, and chloroquine), poison ivy or oak, skin damage, and several infections, bacterial or viral in origin.

Natural Cures
Aromatherapy: The following essential oils are recommended: bergamot (to help heal skin plaques), lavender (to reduce excessive itching), melissa (for irritated skin), jasmine (for dry sensitive skin), geranium (for dry irritating skin), and sandalwood mysore (for dehydrated, inflamed, and sensitive skin).
Diet: Screen for and eliminate all foods to which you are allergic or sensitive. Eat a varied diet of organic, whole foods, rotating foods as much as possible. Eliminate wheat and wheat products for 1-3 months. Consume seafood high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as wild salmon, sardines, mackerel, herring, and each day, on a rotating basis, take one tablespoon of olive or flaxseed oil, and be sure to drink plenty of pure, filtered water. Organic beef, venison, poultry, garlic, onions, parsley, organic plain yogurt, and sauerkraut are also recommended.
Flower Essences: Rescue Remedy Cream® applied topically can soothe symptoms.
Herbs: Combine equal parts of burdock, sarsaparilla, and cleavers tinctures and take one teaspoon three times a day. Silymarin (milk thistle) is also helpful for psoriasis due to its positive effects on liver function.
Homeopathy: Useful homeopathic remedies include Psorinum, Sulfur, Graphites, Cuprum met., and Arsen alb.
Hydrotherapy: Hydrotherapy is the application of water, ice, steam and hot and cold temperatures to maintain and restore health. Treatments include full body immersion, steam baths, saunas, sitz baths, colonic irrigation and the application of hot and/or cold compresses. Hydrotherapy is effective for treating a wide range of conditions and can easily be used in the home as part of a self-care program. Many Naturopathic Physicians, Physical Therapists and Day Spas use Hydrotherapy as part of treatment. I suggest several at-home hydrotherapy treatments.
*Purified water is essential for any hydrotherapy treatment. Remedies for Treating Chlorinated Bath Water offers clear instructions and recommendations.
Juice Therapy: The following juice combinations can be helpful: apple and carrot; beet, cucumber, and grape; and beet, carrot, burdock, yellowdock and garlic.
Lifestyle: Mild cases of psoriasis may be helped by daily exposure to sunlight. Frequent exercise is also recommended.
Nutritional Supplementation: The following nutrients can be helpful: evening primrose oil, omega-3 essential fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin B Complex, vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, vitamin C with bioflavonoids, folic acid, lecithin, zinc, and a multimineral supplement. Taking hydrochloric acid (HCL) with each meal can also be of use.
In Europe fumaric acid treatment in the form of fumaric acid tablets, ointment, lotion, and scalp lotions is widely used to reverse symptoms of psoriasis
Topical Treatment: Apply seawater to the affected skin several times daily. Linseed or avocado oil, aloe vera gel, and/or capsaicin cream applied topically can reduce the scaling, thickness, redness, and itching.
Best of health to you
Question: For anyone else that has plaque psoriasis? What do you do to treat it? I have it on my head really badly at the moment, and also on my knee. It looks like I have friggin leprosy or something and I'm sick of it. Everytime I go to the dr. they give me some other useless cruddy cream and they never work. Please help!
Answer: Hi, you can try one of the natural treatments available on the Internet (just google "natural treatment of psoriasis") and take your pick. Some of them do actually work. For my psor. I use herbal cream by Champori quite successfully. It takes just a couple of weeks to clear the spots and they then stay clear for months on end.
Try it: Champori comes with money back guarantee so if it doesn't work for you - it's free.
Cheers,
Stella
Question: Plaque psoriasis - red scaly patches 20 years plus - advice please? My partner has suffered from plaque psoriasis continuously for over 20 years. He has large, red, scaly patches that don't itch and it has never gone into remission. He has read recently that it would be normal for it sometimes to go into remission so he's surprised that it never has. He does suffer from a lot of stress and very high blood pressure for which he's on medication. He says he's tried a lot of different things that didn't work and he uses sea salt in the bath and little bars of black soap. I help him exfoliate the patches in the bath as it's all over his back as well. Myself, I've noticed a patch on his back that's diminishing and I can see healthy skin appearing. The patches appear darker, more red and "angry" on his forearms and knees.
Does anyone have any advice please? He eats meat -the only veg he'll eat is broccoli, cauliflower and sweetcorn. I'm convinced it's caused by stress and the unhappy legacy of the last 20 years or more (we met last year).
Answer: Go to a University Hospital and see a professor of dermatology.
Question: I have Plaque psoriasis on my head? I have had psoriasis for over 6 years on my head!! I'm now old enough to make my own decision on medicines and such! what is the best cure for this type of psoriasis!!
suggestions PLEASE!
Answer: You need to go to a dermatologist first and get Taclonex scalp solution and dermasmoothe scalp oil. In the interim while waiting for an apointment try sleeping with olive oil or any oil you have and apply it to the scalp at night before bed and sleep with a shower cap on. In the morning use Ketoconazole shampoo over the counter, let shampoo set for ten minutes then rinse. Also Scalpicin help with the itch.

Answer: Shub,
Get anti-psoriasis cream and spray from http://www.champori.com and it may clear your psor. in a couple of weeks. These remedies are herbal (no steroids and no allergens) and helped with my plaque psor. like nothing else.
