Question: Pruritic urticarial papules in the first trimester? I noticed a rash this morning on my abdomen, that has slowly gotten worse as the day progressed. There are no bumbs, just red spotches and spots, and it doesn't itch. I know that PUPPP usually happens in the 3rd trimester, and I am only 11 weeks... Any ideas on what it could be? And how do I make it go away?
Answer: it may be normal due to the hormonal changes , avoid medication ,
Question: Has anyone else had to suffer with PUPP Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy ? Im 20 weeks pregnant and hve PUPP anyone know any good home treatments? Im kinda tired of being on prednisone
Answer: NO NOT ME
Question: PUPPP or Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy? I am only 10 weeks along and have these weird bug like bumps on my skin (one above my abdomen under my chest and another on my back). At first I thought it was a mosquito bite but I have had it for a number of days now.
I am going to the doctor tomorrow to get it checked but from research it seems women usually get this during the last trimester... has anyone ever had this?
Answer: Gosh, from what you're describing and from what I've read about PUPPP it doesn't sound like that's what you have...not because it's too soon, but because a PUPPP rash is so much more all-encompassing than the two bumps you have. What you have is probably caused, or at least aggravated, by pregnancy, but it might not be PUPPP.
I'm sure whatever it is they can treat you for it. Keep us posted, this is definitely interesting.
Good luck!
Question: Anyone know anything about PUPP (Pruritic urticarial papules of pregnancy)? This is my 2nd pregnancy and I thought you only got it with your first (which I did). What eases the terible itch?
Answer: when i had it with my first child the only thing that would help me was to put boudreaux's butt paste or other diaper rash cream on it. It made it like powder on my belly and gave me some relief. It is so awful and i feel your pain so much. It was miserable. You just have to hurry and have that baby so it will go away
Question: I have what they call pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP) and it itches so bad? what should i do to stop the itching? i cant even sleep at night!
Answer: If the itch spreads to other parts of your body then read the info below
This answer is also for those answering this question that are also itching with out a rash.
The only rash like symptom you may have is whrere you have scracthed so much that you make your skin bleed.

or
Search the web for Cholestasis of Pregnancy
Itching can be more dangerous than you think during pregnancy.
I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE...........
Not all doctors a familiar with Obstetric Cholestasis.
Go straight to your DR and ask about Cholestasis of Pregnancy.
It is to do with your liver and pregnancy hormones.
I have had this with 3 of my 4 pregnancies.
All it is, is a simple itch that will drive you crazy that is the only symptom.
Ask to have your BILE SALTS tested this is the only test that will diagnose OC,
Argue with your Dr if you have to, it is worth it.
Liver fuction tests and blood counts DO NOT diagnose OC the only can help the diagnoses in conjunction with Bile salt tests .
An itch doesn't seem much but it can be FATAL to your baby if it goes undiagnosed.
The itching can be any where I had it on my legs and arms at first.
I don't want to scare you but please realise this is very important
Question: what is Pruritic Urticarial Pustules and Papules of pregnancy?
Answer: Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP) is the most common dermatosis of pregnancy, and is also known as toxemic rash or polymorphic eruption of pregnancy. Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques occur in 1 of 160 to 240 pregnancies, and are more common in white women.1 Classically, this disease occurs in primigravidas during the third trimester, and the incidence is higher in multiple gestations (ie, 0.5% of single births, 2.9% of twin pregnancies, and 14% of triplets.)2
Question: Itchy red bumps... what ointment can I use to get rid of the itchiness? About 1 percent of women develop itchy, red bumps and larger patches of a hive-like rash on their bellies in the second half of pregnancy, usually in the last month or two. These irritations are called pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP for short) or polymorphic eruption of pregnancy. They usually show up first on the abdomen around or in stretch marks (if you have any) and then spread to the thighs, the buttocks, and sometimes the arms. They're harmless for you and your baby, but they can itch like crazy!
Answer: Go to the pharmacy and see what they say. They might have an otc ointment or cream to put on it. Good luck and congrats on the little one! God bless.
Question: I have PUPPP, how long does it stay? when will it go away. Im only 22 weeks prego.? Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy . PUPPP
Just curious because i hurd most people get this is the last trimester just close to birth and goes away after birth. But since i have it now on my 22 weeks of pregnant, will it still last until after birth? wouldnt this be too long? So when will you think it will go away, i just got it yesterday and its so itchy.
Answer: It is basically an allergic reaction to your pregnancy. It will last until after you give birth. Some people will get rid of it within 20 minutes of giving birth, but some people may have to wait a few weeks.
Question: Any women know any PUPPP Remedies? I have sort of self diagnosed myself with PUPPP (Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy). I am in my last 4 weeks of pregnancy and last week the barely visible 2 stretch marks I have low on my stomach suddenly became irritated and itchy. They became swollen and a bit larger and small white and red bumps appeared on the insides of the outlines of them, with white 'halos' around the bumps. The rest of the rash on my tummy is mostly concentrated around my belly button (the umbilicus area) but not too visible unless I scratch and there are a couple select patches where the bumps are more visible in clusters and they are very itchy. Hours of research tells me I have a very mild case of PUPPP, but horribly irritating nonetheless. Anyhow, my question, to those women who are suffering from this or have suffered from this in previous pregnancies, what did you do to relieve and/or rid yourself of the rash and itching? I have been using A&D Ointment and cortaid itch cream but the cortaid stpped working. I bought some Sarna and then this evening I bought Campho-Phenique topical oil, contains camphor and phenol, but I have yet to use it. Any REALLY GOOD suggestions?
Answer: I had this all over my belly! My midwife told me to use benedryl cream but it didn't really help. Poor girl I hope you don't have a lot of time left in your pregnancy! That itching is horrible!
Question: Pregnancy rash (postpartum)? I have an 8 month old baby and within the last 2 months of pregnancy I got a rash all over my body called polymorphic eruption of pregnancy or PEP, americans call it Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (puppps) it was awful and i itched and scratched sop hard i was bleeding.
Anyway it cleared up with delivery but months on I still have awful looking scabs/scars on my legs, they still itch when its hot at night but im able to refrain from scratching most of the time.
My question is, has anybody else had this and suffered scarring from it, anybody able to use anything that helped the scarring go away?
Answer: i suffered from something similar, it was a rash all over my body and it itched it also spread down to my legs. it did disappear before i gave birth.
The doctor had no idea what it was, they told me to use e45 and that didn't work. then they said i had a fungal infection and gave me cream for it. It did clear up.
Edit: no i had no scarring.
