Question: Can you put an earring in a preauricular sinus? That's a birth defect [a genetic hole in your ear] for people who don't know.
I can stick an earring halfway in but i would have to pierce it to go all the way through.
I think it would be a pretty cool piercing to have, so is that safe?
Search 'preauricular sinus' on google images if you would like to see it.
Please help!
Answer: So long as it's just cartilage, which it looks like to me, then sure. It's called a helix pierce in normal ears, I don't see why it would be different in yours.
Question: Preauricular sinuses (hole on ear)? Um I have a question on Preauricular sinuses
I checked it up online and am not really sure what it is
Some sources say that it's a hole on a certain part of the ead, and if so, I have one too. It's been there for probably 15-16 years already, and I'm guessing it's from birth
However, I got really creeped out when I see all the infections...
I am a little scared, despite the fact that the hole hasn't been affecting me at all, except for occasional itchiness.
If possible, would someone who's had experience, or know about it please help me? I don't know know what to do with it, and am wondering if it's fatal or hurtful/burdensome in any way?
Answer: A preauricular sinus occurs is a congenital malformation that occurs due to an incomplete fusion of the branchial clefts (these are different segments that make up your face and ears). A sinus is basically a blind ending pouch. Therefore it is a route through which fluid and bacteria can accumulate and this can result in an infection. It is not fatal and if it has not been bothering you it is fine. However if there is some discharge or rash or redness, go see your doctor. It is associated with recurrent infections and can be surgically removed as well.
Question: Can a preauricular sinus be closed?
Answer: maybe get it checked
Question: My preauricular sinus? ok i had this preauricular sinus for 15 year now since birth and it hasn't gotten a little swollen but not completely a zit yet. For years i ave been picking at it and this smelly stuff comes out of it. So my question is.... is my preauricular sinus going to get worse or am i going ot be ok?
if worse, then how can i treat it?
should i stop picking at it?
Answer: You will benefit highly from a visit to an ear, nose and throat specialist (ENT) for your best treatment options. And for the love of God, don't pick at it! Your hands are filthy and you're just introducing more bacteria into your sore. Wash your hands after picking at it.
I hope you feel better soon, God bless.
