Question: I have this condition called pityriasis versicolor/alba (white spots) on my left hand. How do I remove it? Please be specific in the name of the creme or solution. Someone mentioned Selson Blue shampoo but I'm not sure. Can it be the food I eat? Maybe the soap bar I use? Maybe I need to wash my blanket more often? Please help.
Answer: Remember a fungus is better prevented once it disappears otherwise no drugs help -
Avoid moisture
Avoid antibactirals (antibactrials kill normal bacteria on your body this allows fungus to grow more)
If you are using too much body sprays stop that - they have antibacterials.
Go to emedicine via google search and you can read some good stuff.
These are two drugs from emedicine -

Question: help with pityriasis alba!!! please!!!!? I'm 13 years old and i have pityriasis Alba
pityriasis alba is a skin condition were you get getting white patches of skin in your face or arms
I really need help because i went to the dermatologist a couple months ago and she gave me this cream that seems to give no effect!! so i heard that 1% hydrocortisone cream is very effective
I'm currently using 1% hydrocortisone cream and
cetaphil soap for my face to get rid of them, but I'm not sure
how often to put on the cream on
will this treatment work??
or recommend anything good to get rid of my pityriasis alba fast please!! I really need help please!!!
thank you!!!
Answer: i think you are supposed to use it twice a day... and you wont see results quickly... but stick with it and it will work eventually!!! and i'm pretty sure you are supposed to stay out of the sun so use sunscreen all the time, and if it is on your face use a foundation to cover it up...
Question: Ughhh I hate myself (pityriasis alba)? yea im 13 yrs old and i hate my face i have Pityriasis alba & it is very noticeable. even my own mom says that its very noticeable!!!
I'm so embarrassed by it because i feel that people are always staring at me also i wear makeup to try to cover it up but u can still notice a lot
worse part is that im embarrassed to go to school because people will make fun of me
oh yea and my mom has taken me to the dermatologist
and gave they me some creams to help them go away but no effect
im also overweight 5'4 165 lb.
i really want to lose weight but I'm embarrassed by my skin condition to go out jogging or to the gym
please help me how to feel better about my self!!!
Answer: as long as you think you're ugly then you'll always see ugliness in your self. I'm sure you are pretty. I was your age and i was definitely ugly and i knew it. somehow i grew up and i managed to take good care of my skin and my weight and now i'm often called "gorgeous" !!! without any make up or anything. I'm naturally pretty!!! i figured that i probably was always good looking but being young and growing up is not very flattering. so i recommend you work out ignoring how you feel about your self. use sun-screen to help with your pityriasis alba (i have it too and now it's hardly noticable compared to how it was before) i'm fit now and i don't think of my self as ugly anymore! yes, it happens! i promise you! it takes time and effort. and there was nobody there for me. i had to do it all by my self! and i know you can :)
good luck sweetie :)
Question: how to get rid of pityriasis alba: a skin condition?
Answer: According to About.com: Treatment of the rash is not necessary since it will resolve on its own. Using a moisturizer or hydrocortisone may make the patches go away faster. However, even with treatment, the rash may take months to resolve.
Question: IS THERE ANY WAY TO PERMANENTLY STOP PITYRIASIS ALBA? AND HOW LONG WOULD IT TAKE
Answer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pityriasis_…
It doesn't require treatment. If you continue to have symptoms it may be something else or a reponse to what you're doing. Public swimming pools are mentioned as a common cause. You may want to consider seeing a dermatologist.
