Question: Shaken Baby Syndrome Poem? Each year 1,000,000 children are victims of child abuse. It is reported that 3 children a day die from the effects of abuse or neglect. Homicide is the leading cause of injury related deaths in children 5 years of age or younger. 25% of these homicides are as a result of Shaken Baby Syndrome.
There has to be a way to reduce this number. This number is staggeringly too high. This is too many young lives that have been changed forever.
Shaken Baby Syndrome not only effects the children that fall victim to it. Their families and other loved ones are also effected by it in many ways.
I heard of a poem that was written by one such victims family. I was looking for this poem to use when I give my speech on this topic next week. However I have been unable to find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Answer: I have found two poems that might fit what you are looking for. You can bring them up at the following website. Then click the Mission Poems of Prevention and thats where you will find the poems I have mentioned.

Answer: You maybe asking the wrong question and of the wrong people. I am retired military and I can tell you that there is always a another way to skin a cat. The two thoughts that come to my mind is; (1) has his doctor ordered a Physical therapist (PT) to work with him? PT can order stuff that is not normal for others to order. They can ask for it as a tool in his rehab. (2) You say that his Medicare and Medicaid will not pay for it. You have not said that his Doctor ordered it. frankly you can not just try to order a item from some where and think that Medicare or Medicaid is going to pay for it. The syndrome is idiopathic and could well be a result of being in Iraq. I would go to the VA and have them order this for him.
You should also follow the advice given in the Easystand web site concerning appeal you will find this under the heading of funding.
Question: "Syndrome" a poem for C/C , free verse, what needs improved? Syndrome
(running together)
In self serving righteousness
when reason leaves us mindless
and heated temper stirs within
wherever anger sets a spark
to flame, to open a blind wounded heart
it's then, burning anger turns to rage
striking out in scarred pain, revenge
from a prolonged hidden hateful hurt,
transferred,now upon a chosen enemy
without a thought of consequence
of anger's beast, wild , unrestrained
comes to devour, not the chosen one
but all involved, left unresolved
the beast leaves behind, regrets remorse.
Returning reason brings to light
peace within, in need repent,
and come to learn once again
none, but anger is the foe.
Answer: I can feel your anger, not what I’m use to this form, from your gentle spirit. However, I know if you’re this upset then someone has REALLY provoked you. I still don’t fully understand what’s going on. This seems to be spiraling and escalating amongst poets I hold in high esteem. I wonder if we all had joined Y/A now, what would we think?
Question: im looking for any information on the syndrom called poems its a disease that effects mostly men,? im have a dear friend who has this syndrome its so rare that i have not been able to find not to much of anything on this, ive been up for hours at a time looking up all i can find,on this and any organizations or or charitable information or support groups on this syndrome and im wanting to hear from any veterans who also may have been exsposed to depleated uranium and who have suffered from gulf war syndrom and also if they think this syndrome could have any connection, thanks for any help
Answer: Hello. I have actually heard of this before.
First thing to notice about this condition is that “Poems” is an acronym for the 5 major criteria for the condition:
Polyneuropathy
Organomegaly
Endocrinopathy
Monoclonal gammopathy
Skin changes
Second thing to note is that there is no specific definition for POEMS syndrome; however, most authors agree that patients with POEMS syndrome should have 3 or more of the 5 features.
Lastly, we don’t really know the cause of this condition because we don’t understand the pathophysiology. However is there is compelling link between poems syndrome and Castleman disease and angioma formation. I have never heard of this condition as an outcome of toxic exposure, but who knows.
I hope this helps!
Question: are there any other words for "fetal alcohol syndrome"? it's difficult to rhyme, and i want to write my wife a poem to make her feel better about our daughter.
Answer: My daughter was recommended by her doctor to drink a small glass of wine when she got stressed, because of the trauma her husband has been putting her through, so I guess there is a half way point somewhere. My mom was a drunk when she was pregnant with me, and I don't have a alcohol problem, or a drug problem, but I do smoke a pack of cigs a day. Should I blame her for that?
Question: can anyone tell me what is a person to do ,i want to help a Dear man in my life who? has a disease called P .O.E.M.S syndrome yes its real and very rare,About POEMS Syndrome
POEMS syndrome is a rare blood disorder without a known cause. Researchers believe the syndrome involves an overgrowth of bone marrow cells (plasma cells), which produce chemicals that damage other parts of the body. It is not inherited, nor is it contagious. The term "POEMS" is an acronym for the most common symptoms. It can affect anyone, but the majority of people with POEMS syndrome are over 50 with a slightly higher percentage of men with this disorder than women. Patients sometimes confuse POEMS syndrome with multiple myeloma. The symptoms and potential complications of these diseases are very different. The average expected life span is better in patients with POEMS than in patients with classic multiple myeloma.anyway, he is uses a electric wheelchair to get around and he has paralysis in his hands and they are in cupped position and he has it in his feet to,i myself am not able to get around well but i do try to help him when i can,he does some things on his own,but here is where i come in to ask many of you kind people on here to please direct me to any and all info i can gather that will help him.He is not able to make the necessary repairs on his mobile home that need to be done like fixing a broken window ,2 doors that do not lock,he needs a wheelchair ramp and list goes on,I have called H.U.D ,Habitat for humanity, They said because he lives in a mobile home they can not help him.I even sent emails to some local radion stations and churches about him,an they do not reply back My question is there has to be some sort of agency out there in like there that helps disabled people like him .Ive been trying for over 4 weeks doing research ,going to the library and reading and reading all i can .now my next step is to come here and ask everyone here so any info would be a Blessing .THANK YOU
