I'm 25 years old and it is about 8 months that I'm sufferring from Lichen Planus.I went to doctor and it stopped improving but it is about 1 month that the spots are reappearing .Moreover, the spots that were previousely healed are still on my skin . How these brown spots can be removed for ever?

Answer: Takes about 2 months for them to dissapear. You will have tiny white spots after that. In flourescent lighting they can show up big time. So if you go to a place with those lights cover up.

Question: I was diagnosed with Lichen Planus? Has anyone heard of it and know of a cure? I would like all the advice I can get. I have been seeing my dermatologist about this for 6 yeras. They do not know what causes it and how to cure it for sure, so I was wondering if anyone has had experience with Lichen Planus or know of someone that does. If so, please share your story with me.

Question: what medication can I use to get rid of lichen planus in my mouth? I woujld like to find a mouth rinse or something to ease the discomfort of lichen planus from my mouth...I hate it!!

Answer: Lidocaine mouthwashes. Your doctor or dentist will be able to prescribe them to you. Follow the directions that the prescription is written for. The lidocaine will numb the mouth area and help make you feel a little bit more comfortable. Ask your dr about predisone, a pill that is a steroid to help reduce inflammation. It may help also. There is no cure for lichen planus according to a few websites I looked at. A few stated that it normally goes away on its own, but the oral form is usually worse than the skin form.

Question: What can I do to help to clear up the Dark Spots from Lichen Planus.? The Lichen Planus has been gone since December 2005,but the dark spots are still there.. Does anyone have any advice.

Question: How long does lichen planus last? I've had lichen planus for atleast 7-8 months now and was wondering when the breakouts stop ? I've had a couple new ones around my wrists and don't want them to keep coming. Any idea how long it will take till they won't show up anymore ? Question: Which is the difference between oral lichen planus of the tongue and oral hairy leukoplakia of the tongue? From the pictures i have seen on the internet they seem the same to me.I have these little white irregular lines that sometimes appear on the lateral sides of my tongue but when i see the pictures they resemble to oral hairy leukoplakia and lichen planus of the lateral sides of the tongue.I just want to know how can i distinguish the main differences between the two as far as their appearance and symptoms are concerned?

Answer: I think that this should clear it up! This is from my Kerr and Ash's Oral Pathology book from 1986. I am not convinced that anything has changed. Lichen planus is a relatively common dermatological (skin) disease with oral manifestations in about 1/3 of the cases. The clinical oral manifestation vary from flat or slightly elevated lesion with striae to extensive areas of ulceration or erosion (erosive lichen planus). Except for the erosive type, the oral lesions are seldom a diagnosis problem or require treatment. The presence of skin lesions helps to make a diagnosis in erosive lichen planus. It has unknown etiology, but may be stress related and looks white and lacey. Oral hairy leukoplakia is a viral leukoplakia of the tongue in immunosuppressed male homosexuals who have or may develop the features of AIDS..... Clinical lesions appear as white, slightly raised "hairy" plaques on the tongue, they usually do not rub off to leave a bleeding surface as may be seen in candidial lesions. Question: I have been diagnosed with Oral Lichen Planus and is very painful. Anyone have any helpful home remedies? I have been given predisone and triamcinolone to help with the lesions on my skin, but neither do anything for my tongue and I'm at the end of my rope. Any suggestions would be so deeply appreciated.

Answer: I've read that aloe vera juice (the kind you can drink) is great for gargling, then swollowing. Also, you should avoid all products with sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) and peroxide, so check your toothpaste/mouthwash carefully. I've read that biotene is good. Finally, avoid all acidic foods, such as tomatoes. You can neutralize the acid by adding a bit of sugar. This is a nasty autoimmune disorder, so the prednisone should help a bit. I'd also suggest finding an online forum/group for this disorder because you'll glean incredible information from people who've had this for a while. Best to you, and good luck.

Question: Has anyone with Oral Lichen Planus been able to keep it under control? I am getting so peeved off with it and so far everything the doctors have prescribed only gives temporary short term relief. In fact I don't even think they really know how to treat it.
