Question: Is there a difference between a gastrointestinal disease and disorder? I'm quite confused. I'm supposed to do a powerpoint presentation for my Clin. Med class and I was assigned gastrointestinal disease in cats, but when I search for it, almost all that comes up are disorders. Am I just over thinking it or is it truely a "disease" and not just a group of disorders?
Answer: A lot of things that used to be called "disease" are now called "disorder". IBD - used to be irritable bowel disease, now it's irritable bowel disorder. FLUTD - feline urinary tract disease, now disorder. I think that disease was once the collective term for all these illnesses, but they are now calling them disorders as they aren't caused by germs or organisms, so that they can be distinguished from a real disease. I guess something like intestinal lymphoma would be considered a disease, but other than that I can't think of anything?
Question: Gastrointestinal Disease? Hello eveyone,I would like some speculations on my current
health problem addressed.In 2005 Dec,I came afflicted
with so called heartburn symptons.I have never previously
had any engages with it then suddenly, bam out of no where
my chest would stay firey all day long and stomach has remained warm/hot.I have taken many pump inhibitors, acid reducers and nothing alleviates the sympton not even a little
bit.I began to lose my appetite at onset but the only thing
the prescription prevacid restored was my appetite and
that's it.Few years back my doctor had me on fiber because
he said it was low.Changed doctors back then and somehow
don't remember staying on it and little concern about not
continuing it.I also had mutiple muscle spasm before the
gerd-like sympton and on current muscle spasm treatment.
I also recall doctor saying something about my liver long
time ago but think he said it was ok.I believe something
else is underlying or related.Does anyone have a clue?
Answer: Have you had an endoscopy, a long scope that goes down into your stomach with a camera on it so it can be seen in real time? That would be the first step in diagnosing. Then usually a small sample of tissue is taken at the same time (a biopsy) and is tested for a bacteria called helicobacter pylori. That can cause a lot of your symptoms and pain. It has to be treated with specific antibiotics and bismuth (found in Pepto Bismol). That is where you need to start. Go to a gastroenterologist for all this. He is a specialist and should be able to help you.

Question: what is liver Gastrointestinal Disease cause and it is harmful condition or painful treament?
Answer: There is liver disease and also gastrointestional disease.
The liver is located under the rib cage on the right front of the body. If the doctor does a physical examination of this area,
he can feel if the liver has enlarged.
Usually, when there is inflammation inside
the liver, this causes this enlargement.
This inflammation can be treated and it can go away if someone stops doing something
that causes it...like drinking alcohol, using
drugs that are toxic to the liver or stresses
the liver, avoiding chemical contact, losing
weight if they have been diagnosed with
a fatty liver. However, there are some
inflammation of the cells that can be treated but there are no quarantees of complete healing: like hereditary problems.
Yet, there is another catagory of inflammation of the liver that can be caused
by bile duct obstruction by a stone or an
autoimmune disease where the bile ducts
become strictures or twisted or contacting
a viral or bacterial hepatitis.
....
If the inflammation is not treated, it can
lead to the death of the liver cells which is
known as cirrhosis. This has no cure and
is a progressive disease.

...
The liver is a very silent organ until the cells
start to die off. When this happens, the
functions that the liver once handled to keep
the body healthy, go down and then symptoms will appear. The patient may
feel tired, run a fever, feel nauseated.
But them will start to appear like they have
yellow skin and whites of the eyes...this
is usually the very first sign the liver isn't
functioning well.
....
When you said gastrointestinal Disease...
you may be referring to the rare diseases
known as Crohns, or Ulcerative colititis.
This also can cause fever and nausea,
cramping and diarrhea.
I am posting this site where you can look
at the different things that may occur
and read about all this as I cannot really
tell what disease you mean:

...
Usually, if someone has liver trouble they
do testing like an ultrasound, Ct scan, or
MRI...these are not painful and are nothing
more than just taking a picture. However,
a liver biopsy or if you have an ERCP
you can ask for sedation and it will be
easy on you.
...
If you have an intestinal problem, you
may have an colonoscopy...you can also
be sedated for that. On the site I posted
here it will tell you about some of the
procedures they do.
I hope this is of some help to you.

Question: Gastrointestinal pains... Ciliac Disease.? To say the least, Im 18 and I was diagnosed with Ciliac Disease. A few years back after I went on a diet that cut out all dairy and wheat and sodium and red meat. I felt great! But when I got off my diet I started to notice that I would get terrible gas and diarreah.
This persisted for 4 years until my doctor decided to go in for a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. I was then diagnosed with Ciliac Disease as well as Cologonis Colonitus. Mind you, my doctor said it was the youngest anyone has ever heard of someone having colitus, but either way, it happened.
Apparently, due to me going on that diet for the 5 months I was on it, it made it so the emzymes in the bread could no longer be digested properly, and pulled out a gene in my body that hadn't resurfaced for anyone except me in the family. Although it may be hereditary, it isn't found in anyone else but me and possibly my sister...shes a 8 on the Ciliac scale... its like water between an acid and base with having it or not having it. (we have no idea where it came from other then that).
Since then, Ive cut out all wheat, but even though Im not lactose intollerant, I still cant drink milk without it bothering my stomach. So, I decided to go back on my Michael Thurmond diet since I'd put on some weight. My body seemed to be healing itself and expelling the toxins in my body. It was good to feel normal again.
Since then, Ive felt great, until the other day when I had some gluten-free cookies (going off my diet). Now, all it seems my body is able to do is cause gas and clear mucus-like diarreah. I know I could be a severe extention of my colitus, but its very painful as well.
It went away when I was on my diet, but now its back.
What could it be caused from?

will answer your question far better than anything you'll get here for your condition
