Question: dermatofibroma? Has anyone had it? How did you deal with it? It makes me feel so self-conscious, especially when i wear shorts. Are there any home remedies that are proven to work (ie: you've done in your own experience) - and to those who have it, how did you treat it / have you treated it ??
Answer: Dermatofibromas are harmless benign skin growths, found especially on the legs, that range in size from about 0.5 to 1 cm. Dermatofibroma is a firm, red-to-brown, small papule or nodule composed of fibroblastic tissue usually occurring on the thighs or legs.
Most physicians will advocate treatment only if the lesion is in the way of shaving, or is becoming irritated by clothing. Removal can be done surgically with local anesthesia, but, since much of the growth extends beneath the surface of the skin, the scar may be larger and more noticeable than the original tumor. Cryosurgery may also be used to remove a dermatofibroma.
Question: Anyone know much about or have dermatofibroma? I have a bump on my arm that kind of looks like pictures I've seen of dermatofibroma.(pinkish/red, about /4 of an inch in diameter, smooth surface) I was just wondering if anyone has the same problem. Do they almost look like huge pimples, with a tiny white bump in the middle? And how long do they last? I'd really apreciate the help!
I should have mentioned that I've had the bump for years now. I can't remember exactly how long, but I can't remember it not being there.
Answer: this is probably an allergic reation to a fly bite, I get huge red bumps on me that have tiny white dots in the middle from a bug bite that got swollen becuase of an allergic raction, take bennidrill, it wont hurt if what you have isnt a bugbite wait a couple days and if it doesnt go away then contact a doctor, or better yet. scheduale for a check up today? If it gets worse I reccomend you go to the outpatience, god bless and good luck
Question: Does mederma work on Dermatofibroma? I have a dermatofibroma on my leg and do not want to get it surgically removed. Does anyone know if mederma would work in helping to heal it? If not that anything else? I have heard anti cellulite cream could help but I don't know how real that is.
Thank you.
Answer: Probably not as its used for scars on the skin not under the skin
Question: Dermatofibroma removal? I have a Dermatofibroma (don't even bother answering if you have noo idea what that is lol) on my upper right leg. Is it worth removing surgically or freezing off? I know it poses no threat but i don't really like wearing shorts and stuff cause of it. Have you or anyone you know had this problem? Also how much does it cost to be removed? Thankks
Answer: Having it frozen off or surgically removed will likely leave a scar that is white and indented. Since this is a cosmetic procedure, I am assuming your insurance won't pay for it and I am guessing it would be several hundred dollars (USA).
There are some cosmetics out there that are specifically made to be used on legs. This will probably be your best bet, it will hide the fibroma, won't leave a scar, and will be a LOT cheaper that the other alternatives.
Or, you could go in the opposite direction, when you plan to wear a bathing suit or something - get a henna tattoo around it. Henna tattoos are very popular now and the henna is of a similar color to the fibroma. All the busy swirls around it will make it just blend into the tattoo. They usually last for a week or two.
Good luck,

Home remedies for dermatofibroma:
Touch the affected area with spirit of camphor. Keep applying until the skin dry up. It may "sting" but don't worry. It will check the infection.
Apply Milk of Magnesia one on for ten minutes. Rinse off.
A healthy low-fat, high fibre diet containing plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables are beneficial home remedies of dermatofibroma.
By applying cellulite cream thoroughly to the affected area, helps for fast recovery.
Add about 2 to 3 drops of Benzotn to a mug of cold water. Rinse face with this. It is antibacterial.
Question: my son had a dermatofibroma removed behind knee two years ago? Same year one appeared at middle of forehead and another behind neck.It can subside though not completely. And it can rise again to its original size(like a pea)What can i do?
IS there any alternative medicine or treatment to get rid of it?Please help.
Answer: The only way I have ever heard them being treated is with freezing or surgical (shave) removal. The treatment is usually not necessary as they subside on their own but many people opt to have treatment for cosmetic reasons. It is unknown what causes them, therefore no way to prevent them.
Question: What is Dermatofibroma - Causes, Symptoms and Treatment to Get Rid of it Fast?
Answer: Definition:
Dermatofibroma is defined as a benign skin growths, found especially on the legs. They can grow up to about 1 cm (less than a half inch) in diameter. The skin growth is mostly consist of fibrous tissue. Also called sclerosing hemangioma .
It is a form of urticaria in which skin welts develop along the lines where one has been stroked or scratched. Also called dermographia , dermographism . They are usually single but sometimes may be multiple.
A dermatofibroma is a round, brownish to purple growth commonly found on the legs and arms. Dermatofibromas contain scar tissue and feel like hard lumps in the skin. A dermatofibroma consists of a proliferation of scar-like tissue within the deeper layers of the skin (dermis).
A dermatofibroma is also sometimes called a fibrous histiocytoma. It is due to a non-cancerous growth of dermal dendritic histiocyte cells.
Causes of dermatofibroma:
The exact cause of dermatofibroma is unknown because of its persistent nature. Initially the lesion develops as a firm papule or a button-like tumor. Lesions may be slightly tender and their size may vary slightly over time.
The possible causes of dermatofibroma are as:-
Injury: A minor injury to the skin such as a prick from a thorn, may lead to the dermatofibroma.
Dermatofibroma, can be produced by an insect bite.
Sex: Women are more likely to develop this condition than men
Age: Middle-aged adults. It is rarely found in childrens.
Heredity: A family history of dermatofibroma, may become the cause of it.
Symptoms of dermatofibroma:
The important symptoms of dermatofibroma are as:-
They are usually found on the lower legs, but may appear on the arms or trunk
Raised from the skin and may bleed if damaged
The size of dermatofibroma is vary as - small as a BB pellet but can grow larger than a fingernail
Usually dimple inward when pinched.
They are darker for individuals with darker skin
The color may change over time
Occasionally itchy or sensitive when touched
The red, pink, purplish, gray or brown patches may be seen on the affected area of skin.
It is usually painless but may be tender, painful or itchy
Dermatofibromas can occur at any age, and they occur more frequently in women than in men. Usually dermatofibromas appear alone, but sometimes there may be several.
Treatment of dermatofibroma:
Treatment of dermatofibromas should be considered when they get in the way of shaving or become irritated by clothing.
Dermatofibroma are best ignored. If the diagnosis is uncertain, a piece may be removed for tissue analysis.
Dermatofibroma can be removed surgically, but since they are deep, this usually leaves a scar.
Liquid nitrogen freezing destroys only the upper part of the growth. Therefore, the dermatofibroma, after some years, may again become noticeable. Usually any regrowth is slight and can be handled by another freezing.
These treatments only destroy the upper part of the growth, and after a few years it may again become noticeable. If this happens, the treatment could be repeated again if desired.

Question: Unknown cluster of lumps on my inner forearm. What are they? I developed a cluster of hard, immovable lumps on my inner forearm (the section below my inner wrist) recently. They look flat on the surface, feels deep upon palpation and feel sore only when I press on them. They came about after I stabbed my inner forearm with scissors due to emotional upsets. They look as normal as any scars after any cut to the skin. I've tried rubbing with ointment to disperse them, thinking that they could be hardened blood clots but the condition remains the same. Repeated seaches on the internet didn't yield much answers. The closest possible answer I found was Dermatofibroma. However, dermatofibromas are raised bumps not flat ones. Can someone please help solve this mystery on my forearm?
Answer: Seems to be an infection. See a specialist right away.
