Question: How do you get rid of restless legs syndrome without medication, vitamins or herbs? How do you get rid of restless legs syndrome without medication, vitamins or herbs?
Answer: Take a long walk b4 bed. I was watching this thing on tv that mentioned that.
Question: Whats a treatment for restless legs syndrome? I have a minor case of restless legs syndrome, and it often makes me uncomfortable and unable to sleep. I sometimes get an uncomfortable feeling, like an urge to move, and I have to constantly move my legs or wiggle my toes to make it feel better.
Is there something I can do to relieve this?
Answer: well.... in my experience, taking over the counter medication actually made it way WORSE for me. i tried benadryl, nyquil, and even a prescribed sleeping medication. the medicine made me soooo drowsy and out of it, but it made the restless legs even worse. which was terrible since i was so drowsy. the medication and the restless legs made me soooooo unconfortable i almost made my husband take me to the hospital. the only thing that ended up working was to WALK WALK WALK it off! tire those muscles out! the reason i started getting RLS was after i quit my waitressing job (probably because i wasnt stretching those legs 8 hours like i was used to!!!)
soooo before u try medicine...try to tire yourself out first! then if need be...keep in mind im not a doctor- some sort of tranquilizer like ativan works best! good luck...i know it sucks!
Question: Restless leg syndrome in a child but whole body not just legs? My son is 3 1/2 and has autism, for the past 16 nights he has been unable to settle himself to sleep, he jerks sort of like restless leg syndrome but it's his whole body he wants to settle and gets upset because he can't our paediatrician wants us to try melatonin but I'm not keen as nobody seems to know if there are any long term effects. OT doesn't seem to know what it could be, it's a long shot but wondered if anyone had any suggestions.
Answer: He could be having a mild seizure. My son has a brain condition called Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum. He is at high risk for autism, seizures etc because part of his brain is missing. You should ask your pediatrician to refer you to a neurologist. Some children can have them in their sleep for years before anyone knows. It is just an avenue to look into. Also, a child seizure is different from an adult's. If that is not the case... I recommend tiring the little guy out. Get him so tired, he passes out. Let him run around the house 50 times, whatever it takes. My nephew used to not be able to sleep and my sister figured out, the more physical things he did before bed, the more likely he was to go to sleep!!! Good Luck!!! I hope that helps!
Question: My husband suffers from restless legs syndrome what can you recommend for a good night's sleep? Every night he kicks and shifts his legs from side to side and if he lies on his back it looks like he is riding a bicycle. Its so bad that we sleep in different bedrooms just so that i can get a decent nights sleep. The GP has prescribed sedatives, sleeping tablets, relaxant drugs etc but all these makes it worse. During the day his legs on the outside are completely numb. You can stick a needle in anywhere in legs from hips to his feet and cant feel anything. Any advice anyone please?
Answer: Medications do help with the symptoms of RLS but do not
get the root of the problem. Some medications can have
serious side effects that may not show up immediately.
Another problem with antibiotics, is that antibiotics kill all
the beneficial bacteria in your body along with the bad.
RLS can take a toll on your health, your well being, your
mind, your focus and have serious long term health
issues due to your body not being able to rebuild itself
because of lack of sleep.
There is a natural cure for ALS. Before your ALS can
dominate your life, you should takes steps to cure it.
Question: What can I do about restless legs syndrome? I am 30 weeks pregnant and i dont know what to do cause i cant sleep my legs move to much.
yes i take my vitamins every day and i dont get this everynight only today.
Answer: I talk to my dr about it too because right now there is nothing you can take while pregnant, she recommended calcium and checked my iron levels. I found that a hot shower aimed at my legs helps some nights, also elevating them helps some too.
Question: Does anyone have any suggestions for alieviating Restless Legs Syndrome? I am 32 weeks and it is driving me crazy almost every night. Right now I would love to go to sleep, but my legs would rather walk around.
Answer: I finally figured out to ask my husband to massage my feet before bed. It does wonders for my RLS.
Question: Is their anyone experiencing restless legs syndrome? Or feeling irritating to painful sensation in their legs? What does it feels like and how does it make you feel? Have you been diagnose for the disease or been under diagnose (uncured)? How long have you been having these uncomfortable sensations?
I'm doing a research assignment on Restless Leg Syndrome. And I would like to know some personal information about this disease from people experiencing this disease or people you know with restless leg syndrome.
Answer: I don't know if this will help you or not but here is my story. I started having the RLS sensations in my legs about 4 years ago. At first that is what we thought it was but now 4 years later it (whatever "it" is) has progressed from just my legs to my entire body from my toes to my chin. In addition to horrible restless sensations I have shooting, stabbing pain in my feet and hips, it feels like I am being electrocuted in my hips and my legs hurt and feel like they are being stung by bees. I also have all of these symptoms 24 hours a day 7 days a week for over 3 years. If I don't take my medication regularly (ever 4 hours around the clock) then I am in excruciating pain. I can't walk because my legs hurt so badly and are weak and I can't hold myself up. I am finally going to see a Neurologist soon and Multiple Sclerosis is a possibility. I don't know enough about either one (RLS or MS) to know if RLS can be a symptom of MS or if what I have is just a severe form of RLS or if neither is related to the other and what I have is actually MS and the initial symptoms were just similar to RLS. Like I said ,I don't know if I helped or just made this more confusing for you (sorry). But I hope you find the information that you need. There is a health forum called ehealthforum.com. There are categories for specific health problems and there is a section for RLS. You might get more information and more answers on there.
Question: What kind of help can one get for Restless Legs Syndrome? I need some help for this disorder, so I can help a close relative of mine cope with it.
Answer: Well, if they are experiencing leg cramps... try putting a bar of dove soap at the foot of their bed... i don't know how it works, but it does for my mom who has claudication and diabetic neuropathy.
also, try drinking tonic water with quinine. it wont help the pain, but will help from making the disease get worse.
Question: What do you do to control your Restless Legs Syndrome? Have been using benzodiazepines (clonazepam), with decent, but not complete, relief.
Answer: Over the counter you can buy quinine. It comes as a supplement, in a formula called "leg cramps" and its also found in tonic water. I've heard it helps immensly.
Question: Any tips for relieving Restless Legs Syndrome? I have been up for two nights straight because I can't stop moving and kicking all night. Zero rest. This happens at least 3 nights a week, and i'm becoming a zombie because of it. I was diagnosed with RLS several years ago, and have tried many medications, but gotten no relief. At this point I can't afford a dr so I can't try any of the new drugs. I'd really appreciate it if anyone else with this condition could tell me how to calm it down without a prescription. I'm at the end of my rope here, so any help is appreciated.
Answer: I sympathise entirely, having suffered myself. I found taking night kalms - a herbal concoction from your local pharmacy, a hot bath and someone to massage your legs before bed can alleviate symptoms - all of these things help to relax muscles. Also avoid eating or drinking anything apart from water 4 hours before going to sleep. It won't get rid of it, but I find I'm having more 'good' nights than bad.
