Question: Any books about death of a son or someone dying of a brain tumor? I really need any suggestions of books that relate to the death of a child dying and especially if that kid wad dying of a brain tumor. It's for a theme essay and I have to relate the theme I chose to another literary selection. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! I'm reading Death Be Not Proud by John Gunther if that helps. A brief explanation about the book you're suggesting will also be appreciated.

But these concerns - and specifically the suggestion that using a cell phone may increase a person's risk of developing brain cancer - are not supported by a growing body of research on the subject. More than a dozen studies have explored the relationship between the use of cell phones and malignant or benign brain tumors. The majority of these have found little or no overall increased risk of brain tumors within the first 10 years of use. Studies now in the pipeline will yield information on longer-term use, as well as the first results involving children. He recently briefed NCI's National Cancer Advisory Board on what is known and not known about cell phones and cancer. A major unanswered question is how cell phones might contribute to cancer. Cell phones emit radiofrequency energy, which is a form of electromagnetic radiation. While exposure to high levels of radio frequency energy can heat body tissues, the amount of radiofrequency energy produced by cell phones is too low to cause significant heating of tissue. "The biological mechanism by which radiofrequency radiation might cause cancers is unknown and entirely a matter of speculation," said Dr. Inskip. The controversy over cell phones and cancer started on national television in 1993, when Larry King interviewed a man who said that his wife's fatal brain tumor had been caused by her cell phone. The issue received considerable attention in the media, and cell phone stocks plummeted temporarily. Within a week, Congress had asked NCI and other agencies to investigate. Dr. Inskip was at the time preparing a study to attempt to identify causes of brain cancer, and he added a component to assess cell phone usage. The results, reported in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2001, showed no evidence of an association between recent cell phone use and brain cancer. The conclusion was supported by two other reports published at about the same time. Since then, most studies have not found a link between cell phones and cancer. The studies have been launched largely in response to people's concerns that any negative health effects from this new technology would be a major public health issue. In the United States alone, there were more than 255 million cell phone subscribers last year, up from 110 million users in 2000 and 208 million in 2005. Given this dramatic growth, researchers have looked for increases in the incidence of brain cancer in the U.S. population and found none. There was no upturn in the incidence of brain or other nervous system cancers between 1987 and 2005, according to data from NCI's Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results program. Another avenue of research has focused on people who were exposed to increased levels of radiofrequency energy in the workplace. Two such studies - one of employees in a factory manufacturing cell phones and the other of veteran Navy radar technicians exposed during the Korean War - showed no evidence of increased cancer risk. Because cell phone technology is so new and has changed over time, larger studies are needed to answer questions about longer-term use. Answers may come from a series of multinational studies collectively known as the INTERPHONE study. While the combined analysis is not yet complete, some of the 13 participating countries have pooled their data and reported little or no effect on the risk of brain tumors. Several European countries are also examining cell phone use in children and adolescents diagnosed with brain cancer. Children may be at greater risk of health effects than adults because their nervous systems are still developing at the time of exposure. In addition, young people may accumulate many years of exposure during their lifetimes. For the future, it will be important to look for the consistency of results both within and across studies, said Dr. Inskip. "With more data and the ability to look at data in many different ways, some positive results are likely to occur simply by chance," he added. Question: how you explain children's and those brain dead for few minutes NDE- Near Death Experience?

Answer: I never had a nde but I got a glimpse into the passing of someone else that changed the way I had been thinking. Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away. While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination. Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to. I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us. During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible. I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. Question: What would happen theoretically to a person/their brain if all 5 senses were deprived from birth? There have been the cases of feral children/child abuse where the outcome resulted in the permanent inability of learning human language, higher emotional development such as feeling compassion, etc. MRI scans of these children's brains showed underdeveloped areas that controlled these functions. Can a human stay alive with a brain that has been damaged by depriving all 5 senses, leaving just the parts of the brain that run bodily functions? Or will this be too much of a system shock that the brain deteriorates, causing death?

Answer: Deprivation of all five senses should cause the brain to atrophy and the person would die. It has been proven that a human being cannot live if derpived of touch.

Question: Sadly, need recommendation on children's books dealing with death? I have a 1st grade student who has a brain tumor and the prognosis is not good. I work in the school library and have had questions asking us what books to recommend on the subject that would help that child and the other children understand. Every day I pray for a miracle for her, but we need to be prepared to deal with what the future may bring. I will be checking with an agency that does grief counseling, but does anybody have recommendations from personal experience? Answer: These books are aimed at young children, dealing with death and dying: 'When I Die, Will I Get Better?' by J Breebaart (this is quite good because it deals with the death of a child) 'When Dinosaurs Die: A Guide to Understanding Death' by KB Brown (this seems good to lay-down the idea of death) 'Goodbye Mog' by Judith Kerr (it's about the death of a family pet and how sad the family are, again good to lay down the idea of death and what might happen) 'Rudi's Pond' by Eve Bunting (this is about the death of a child and what the children in her class do to remember her) 'The Goodbye Boat' by Mary Joslin (this is a good one to start the discussion of death) This child will probably have an oncology community nurse who will also be versed in helping prepare the family, friends and classmates for the end stages of terminal illness. If you don't want to contact the little girl's parents directly then you should try to contact the hospital she was treated in (in fact, they will probably have left a contact number with the school) to arrange a talk for the class and also see if the nurse can recommend any books for you as she'll have access to very specific books about cancer and death that will be perfect for your class. It's so sad when anyone good dies, especially a child who hasn't even had the chance to properly enjoy life. I do pray that there is a miracle in store for her and these books aren't needed.

Question: I have lost children due to brain disease while they were ill my husband never stood by them or me for example? he never talked to doctors even he would be present at the meetings he always blamed me for their death he even calls me a child killer we have one healthy child sometime in front of him he calls me a stupid and names my child loves to spend time with him but most of the time my husband is reluctant to take him any where or show interest in his study should i keep on putting up with him or leave him why he does not understand my pain i do not want to lose respect of my son

Question: marriage w/prenuptial& Will leaves asset to children, one has brain surgery, gets Power of Att.& strips estate Our step mother siged a prenuptial giving her a car, allowence and a house to live in as long as our father lived in it with her. His Will left all his assets to his children. He had brain surgery she got his Power of Attorney because of his brain damage. She then place her name on all bank accounts, insurance, annuities and etc. So her name was on all assets at the time of his death. She had even taken him to draw up a new will leaving her and others additional assets. Are thes changes of ownership legal?
