Question: How hard is it to get pregnant with von willebrand disease? I was recently diagnosed with this, along with many other things (waiting for results to confirm I do have the other blood diseases, but it is highly unlikely.)
My question is, how hard is it to get pregnant with von willebrand disease? Does it make you infertile? Or harder to get pregnant compared to someone who doesn't have this?
Answer: according to wikipedia no effect
Question: Can people with Von Willebrand disease or hemophilia get tattoos? Can people with Von Willebrand disease get tattoos? The who wants it has type 2A; or will she bleed too much?
Answer: Yes. Von Willebrand disease (VWD) is the most common of all the rare inherited bleeding disorders. It is more common and usually milder than hemophilia..
Von Willebrand's disease is a bleeding disorder in which a blood clotting protein(von Willebrand factor and Factor VIII) in your body's blood system is missing or does not work well.
In type 2 VWD,( usually mild) the von Willebrand factor doesn't work the way it should. Type 2 is divided into subtypes: 2A, 2B, 2M, and 2N. Different gene mutations (changes) cause each type, and each is treated differently. So it's important to know the exact type of VWD that you have.
Like hemophilia, vWD is a genetic disorder that is passed from parent to child. The child of a man or a woman with vWD has a 50% chance of getting the gene. In types 1 and 2, a child inherits the gene for the disease from one parent. In type 3, the child usually inherits the gene from both parents. In those cases, the child will likely have severe symptoms, even if the parents don't have any symptoms at all. VWD affects both males and females, while hemophilia mainly affects males
When a person with hemophilia is injured, he does not bleed harder or faster than a person without hemophilia, he bleeds longer. Small cuts or surface bruises are usually not a problem, but more traumatic injuries may result in serious problems and potential disability (called "bleeding episodes").
I don't see any reason why you can not get a tattoo. If you have hemophilia, you may bleed for a longer time than others after an injury.
Tattoos are surface bruises or small cuts. They are not very deep.to cause exessive bleeding
In general, small cuts and scrapes are treated with regular first-aid: clean the cut, then apply pressure and a band-aid. Individuals with mild hemophilia can use a non-blood product called desmopressin acetate (DDAVP) to treat small bleeds.
You just have to be extra careful to avoid bleeding excessively. as non-stop bleeding can lead to death. You should inform the tattooist so he can apply pressure after he designs with his needle and to proceed very slowly.
Question: Can people with von Willebrand Disease join any branch in the armed forces? Von Willebrand Disease is a disorder in which blood does not clot as quickly or normally as it should. It is somewhat similar to hemophilia, but different. Since it is not hemophilia, can someone with this disorder join any branch in the armed forces?
Answer: He is correct.
BUT
I never disqualify anyone for medical unless it's for sure. It's best to let the doc at meps do that. The regulation might say one thing but the doc knows a specific exception so you would be able to get a waiver.
Honestly meps docs are hit and miss. Best just to ask a recruiter so he can dial-a-doc
Question: Can you get a tummy tuck when you have type 1 Von Willebrand disease? I am really interested in getting a tummy tuck procedure done, but in 2003 I was diagnosed with Von Willebrand disease the least severe kind type 1, so I have tried to research and see if it is possible, but haven't been able to find much, and I contacted a doctor that turned me down because of this so I just wanted to know if anyone had any info for me? Please give me some feed back!
Answer: I *just* did a paper on vWD! It is not hemophilia, you cant bleed to death, especially w/ Type 1, so I don't know why you were turned down. As long as you take your DDAVP when they tell you to for the surgery(its different for type of Sx and doc) ie taken before, they give during, or you take after. Umm let me pull out my sources list here.....its just vWD info, but it may help you state your case. I'll put some down in 'Sources'.
Hope it helps!
**edit**PS it looks like it is not making them links, if you want the whole address just email me. The link is in my profile!
Question: Will i still be allowed to join the nypd with von willebrand disease?
Von Willebrand disease (VWD) is an inherited bleeding disorder. It affects your blood's ability to clot. If your blood doesn't clot, you can have heavy, hard-to-stop bleeding after an injury. The bleeding can damage your internal organs or even be life threatening, although this is rare.
Answer: probably not, but you can still be optimistic and try for it.
Question: Is von Willebrand disease considered hemophilia, or is it a catagory of its own? If so, what letter type of hemophilia?
Answer: It's in a seperate catagory...WD
Question: Question about Von Willebrand disease? I was wondering if any doctors or people with Von Willebrand disease know if it is not recommended to drink alcohol.
Answer: i have it. it's fine to drink alcohol. the only warnings my doctors have given me is to not use any blood thining medication, so basically only use tylenol. alcohol has no affect on the disorder. it is only a blood clotting disease, meaning that when you get cut you bleed alot more or bruise easier because it takes alot longer for your blood to clot.
