Question: What is the prognosis for lymphoblastic lymphoma???? What would the prognosis be for a 16yr old male with stage 3 lymphoblastic lymphoma???
Answer: Staging and grading
Staging
The stage of non-Hodgkin lymphoma describes how many groups of lymph nodes are affected, where they are in the body, and whether other organs, such as the bone marrow or liver, are affected.
Stage 1 The lymphoma is only in one group of lymph nodes, in one particular area of the body.Stage 2 More than one group of lymph nodes is involved, but all the involved nodes are contained within either the upper half or the lower half of the body. The upper half of the body is above the sheet of muscle underneath the lungs (the diaphragm), and the lower half is below the diaphragm.Stage 3 Lymphoma is present in lymph nodes in both the upper and lower parts of the body (ie in lymph nodes both above and below the diaphragm). The spleen is considered as a lymph node in this staging system.Stage 4 The lymphoma has spread beyond lymph nodes to other lymphatic organs – for example, to sites such as the bone marrow, liver or lungs.
Question: What is the prognosis for lymphoma? Its a 16yr old male with stage 3 lymphoblastic lymphoma. What would the prognosis be?
PLEASE HELPPP!
Answer: Hi, I'm a medical student, and I thought I could help out. I'm sorry to hear that you've received this diagnosis, but I strongly believe that you should talk to your doctor about your prognosis. Each case is different, and it's impossible to assess your case in a forum like this. Perhaps talking to more doctors is the last thing you want right now, and I can understand that, but you want to get answers from professionals who know you, not from people on the internet who, honestly, are guessing or just quoting statistics.
Good luck, and I wish you the best.
Question: How to set up charity donation for my cancer child online? My son was diagnosed with lymphoblastic lymphoma 2 weeks ago, we have a website and people would like to donate online, also get tax-deduction. How do I set this up?
Answer: Go to http://www.MicroGiving.com and set up a profile. It's exactly what your looking for.
Question: Procrit and lymphoma? My 4 yr old has stage 4 lymphoblastic lymphoma. He has been struggling to keep up his RBC's. He has had over 10 transfusions in the last 3 months. Last time he was hospitalized (last week monday) they gave him a procrit shot. They told me it could help him produce the RBC's. Well, he has an appt on Monday and more bloodwork, so I went to look it up and get more info on it in case he needed it again. They said its bad for cancer, and can make cancer worse...now Im freaked out...I obviously will talk with his oncologist on Monday, but Im wondering if anyone heard of this before?
Answer: This has been a big deal recently. I am an Oncology nurse, and I have become afraid of giving Procrit to my patients. New research does indicate that it may feed the cancer, so to speak. Please talk to your son's doctor. See if there are any reasonable alternatives. I will say a prayer for you and your little boy.
