Question: thanks 4 answers quick explanation have B12 and folic acid deficiency dr referred me for an endoscopy? Went to see Dr. cos felt odd had blood test showed B12 and folic acid deficiency often feel bloated after eating and quite often sick also suffer from acid heartburn thought was maybe over eating Dr. sent me for endoscopy said had inflammation in lower stomach and upper bowel took biopsy recommended gluten and wheat free diet until results come through which takes 3 weeks gave me leaflet on coeliac disease
Answer: Oh brother! Did your doctor talk to you about the lack of stomach acid? Do you eat meat from commercial cows that are fed grain? Did he show you a simple test to do with foods you eat to see if you are allergic to them rather than waiting 3 weeks of not eating gluten?
Doctors are NOT trained in nutrition and there are a lot of "C" students out there "practicing" medicine.
The acid indigestion is a very strong indication (99.999%) that you have hypochloridia (the lack of stomach acid). The bloating feeling is putrefying, rotting food that is not being broken down in your stomach due to the lack of stomach acid. As the food breaks down, it gives off methane gas and you feel bloated.
Vitamin B-12 is found in meat and that must be broken down in your stomach by the stomach acid. If you have low stomach acid, you will not be breaking it down and can become deficient. Folic acid is a product of the intestinal flora making it in your intestines. If you have taken ANY antibiotics, yours is destroyed.
To tell if you have an allergy to anything, you can do a simple test called the "Coca's Pulse Test." It is very accurate and you can do it yourself in a few minutes for each item you want to test. Just sit in a chair and come to rest for about 5 minutes. Take your pulse for a full 1 minute (not the 15 sec. multiply by 4 thing). Then put whatever you want to test in your mouth and chew it for 30 seconds. Then take your pulse again. If you find it is faster by 6 beats, you are allergic or have a sensitivity to it. If you have type "O" blood, use 4 beats as the criteria instead of 6. It's that simple.
In order to be allergic, the substance has to contain amino acids (the things that make up proteins).
To fix the acid indigestion, you need to get some Betaine HCL from a once living source and take it after each meal. Don't get the stuff from the health food or pharmacy because it is all synthetic chemical based and is not good for you. Go to: (800) 370 - 3447 and order the following:
Betaine HCL --- take 4 of these after each meal
HCL activator -- take 2 of these after each meal
Digest ------------ take 2 of these BEFORE the meal
Probiotic -------- take 1 of these 1/2 hour before breakfast and 1 one
hour after dinner.
I would also get the product they call "Max Stress B" and take 1/4 tsp. first day then gradually increase it to 2 tsp. after 10 days. Do this for about a month. It will help your digestion and liver greatly. Then you can take about 1/4 tsp. or non at all if you continue taking the probiotics.
The inflammation in your lower stomach can be due to H.Pylori bacteria from the low stomach acid. If you get an irritation from taking the Betaine HCL, you may have to take an antacid for about 4 or 5 days and then stop that and start the HCL.
good luck to you
Question: Folic acid deficiency? I recently found out that I have a folic acid/B12 deficiency. Can anyone tell me what foods have a high folic acid concentration? (Please bear in mind that I am a VEGITARIAN) Also, could it be linked to my insomnia and/or pale skin? I am 16, female and otherwise healthy, besides eczema.
Answer: Folic acid is found in green leafy vegetables (such as spinach, etc), so that shouldn't be a problem for a vegetarian like you. Vit B12, however, is found in red meat. Your doctor needs to determine exactly what you are deficient in. Folic acid and B12 deficiency looks exactly the same on blood tests but some more tests can be done to determine if you are only deficient in either folic acid or B12 or both.
To your second question, the answer is yes. Folic acid and Vit B12 deficiency can cause anemia, which can make you pale. Not sure about the insomnia.
Question: mention the biochemical role of folic acid in preventing folic acid deficiency anaemia?
Answer: Folate deficiency anemia. Treatment involves eating a healthy diet and taking folic acid supplements as prescribed by your doctor. In most cases, folic acid supplements are taken orally. It usually takes a month or longer to correct folate deficiency anemia. If you're someone who can't absorb folate easily, you may need to take folic acid supplements for life.
In the form of a series of tetrahydrofolate compounds, folate derivatives are substrates in a number of single-carbon-transfer reactions, and also are involved in the synthesis of dTMP (2'-deoxythymidine-5'-phosphate) from dUMP (2'-deoxyuridine-5'-phosphate). It helps convert vitamin B12 to one of its coenzyme forms and helps synthesize the DNA required for all rapidly growing cells.
The pathway leading to the formation of tetrahydrofolate (FH4) begins when folate (F) is reduced to dihydrofolate (FH2), which is then reduced to tetrahydrofolate (FH4). Dihydrofolate reductase catalyses both steps.
Methylene tetrahydrofolate (CH2FH4) is formed from tetrahydrofolate by the addition of methylene groups from one of three carbon donors: formaldehyde, serine, or glycine. Methyl tetrahydrofolate (CH3–FH4) can be made from methylene tetrahydrofolate by reduction of the methylene group; formyl tetrahydrofolate (CHO-FH4, folinic acid) results from oxidation of methylene tetrahydrofolate.
In other words:
F → FH2 → FH4 → CH2=FH4 → 1-carbon chemistry
A number of drugs interfere with the biosynthesis of folic acid and tetrahydrofolate. Among them are the dihydrofolate reductase inhibitors (such as trimethoprim and pyrimethamine), the sulfonamides (competitive inhibitors of para-aminobenzoic acid in the reactions of dihydropteroate synthetase), and the anticancer drug methotrexate (inhibits both folate reductase and dihydrofolate reductase).
Question: Why is MCV increased in folic acid deficiency but decreased in iron deficiency?
Answer: Folic acid (like B12) is required for DNA synthesis and cell division. If you're low on folate, your blood cells can grow, but they can't divide. Hence, the mean cell volume (MCV) increases.
Iron is a key component of hemoglobin, the main protein component of RBCs. Without iron, your blood cells can divide but not grow. Therefore, the MCV decreases.
Question: how long does it take for sypmtoms of folic acid anemia to go away? I have a folic acid deficiency and I was wondering how long until I feel better? I am taking folic acid supplements and have added vegetables high in folic acid to my diet however by the end of the day I start to feel the symptoms again (weakness, tingling in arms and legs, trouble keeping balance when walking etc.) I have read anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks for symptoms to go away, has anyone ever had this and if so what was your experience with it?
Answer: when you start back eating on a regular basis.
Question: What is the deficiency disease for folic acid? another name is folacin.
does any body know the other name for it?
Answer: Folic acid (folinic acid, folacin, pteroylglutamic acid) was first isolated from spinach leaves (its name derives from the Latin folium meaning "leaf") in 1964 and early on was found to be essential in the prevention of anemia in animals. Later it was discovered that ensuring that mothers had adequate folic acid levels could prevent neural tube defects in human babies.
Question: folic acid and iron deficiency what foods have them in?!? Hi, my doc told me im anemic to the bone and very low on iron and folic acid,
he has given me pills but i hate taking them as they taste awful ( can taste them for an hour after ive taken them and its 3 times a day!)
so what foods can i eat that are healthy and have got folic acid and iron in them?
( i know of spinach which i am trying to eat often!)
Answer: Red Meat!!
Spinach needs Vitiman C to be eaten with it for the body to obsorb the Iron.
Try drinking orange juice with it.
(sorry, i know it sounds yuck)
good luck

Question: Have you heard of any connection between thrombosis and folic acid deficiencies? I am doing some research on this and would be interested in any websites or books you could suggest.
I am also interested in hereditary blood clotting disorders.
Thank you.
Answer: if you are looking for a good hereditary blood clotting disorder that will require lots of research then check out lupus anticoagulant. Some of the easier more common ones are hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, thrombophilia and thalassemia.
here is a research study on folic acid and thrombosis. it might be over your head if you don't have a decent medical background though

Question: Is it too late ??? folic acid / B12 deficiency? please tell me anything you know

my docotrs said I need injections of vitamin B12 and start on pills after that ( tomorrow first injection) ... ok so i came here to google folic acid B12 deficiency and i found that it may cause
leukemia !! i'm scared !!
about me
i'm 18 female .... other than that i'm healthy
i'm not vege ... i just don't eat meat very much ...
i used to drink soda alot and now i stopped
i began taking vitamin D pills for over a year now
PLEASE PLEASE tell me anything you know
i don't want to ask the doctor tomorrow because i want to know today
Answer: Yikes! Going to a doctor for nutritional advice is like going to an auto mechanic and asking what to do about your hair. B-12 shots is a radical thing to do and will harm you more than help you. Folic acid is very important because when you are deficient in this, you will get polyps in your intestines. Then the doctors can make lots of money from you by removing them periodically and subjecting you to putting disease into you by using improperly sanitized endoscopes with dirty biopsy channels! The Calcium deficiency answer they will give you is to take Calcium Carbonate and the vitamin D deficiency will be resolved by them by giving you synthetic vitamins that will damage your DNA.
Welcome to the American Health Abuse system!
Your body makes "B" vitamins. Did you know that? Did your doctor tell you that? The "B" vitamins are made in adequate amounts if you have a GOOD INTESTINAL FLORA. If you have taken antibiotics they gave you, you do NOT have a good intestinal flora that makes up 3/4 of your immune system. Thank you doctor.
Sorry, for the diatribe, but it is just disgusting the way people are told how to treat nutritional deficiencies in America. If you eat the SAD diet (standard American diet) it is no wonder you are deficient.
You can get over those deficiencies easily with diet, not shots and pills that will damage you. Just look at the label on the pills they want to give you and you will see Magnesium Stearate listed on there, along with many other excipients that damage you. That Mag Stearate is a TRANS FAT and over 5% of the total milligrams listed on there will be this garbage. It inhibits the nutrient absorption by up to 80%, is an immune suppressant, as well as a trans fat. TOTAL GARBAGE.
To completely fix the issues you have, you should be seeing a Certified Nutritional Therapist instead of a person that treats symptoms, not root causes and knows nothing about nutrition.
Additionally, lab tests are a snap shot of where you were that day and not the end all understanding of what is happening in your body.
It's good you stopped drinking soda drinks because that definitely depletes your body of calcium. Taking those ascorbic acid tablets that are synthetic chemical activators are very damaging. They won't even cure scurvy and are a "single component" and not a complex the way nature designed vitamin C.
To fix the immediate issues you mentioned can be done in less than a month, but you need a quality supplement, not the typical "pill in a bottle" you buy in a local store. As you can see, your vitamin D pill you have been taking for over a year doesn't seem to have done the trick, eh? Right.
The best way to get vitamin B-12 is from good quality meat. Not the meat you buy in the Mausoleums where dead food is held in state. That meat is from cows that are put in feed lots and fed grain while they tramp around in their own feces. Those cows are sick and they will make you sick if you eat that garbage. The best meat is from GRASS FED cows grazing on grasses that have not been sprayed or chemically fertilized. (let me know where you are located and I will give you some information on where to find good beef). The grass fed cows have high omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin E, K, and CLA that are all good for you.
The problem with vitamin B-12 is that it needs to pass through the stomach first. The stomach contains a protein enzyme that breaks the B-12 molecule down into smaller size so the body can absorb and digest it easily. The body has to go through a lot of processes to get this vitamin into it's end chain form so it can be used easily. The shots are not that effective and that is why they need to give them to you very frequently because most of it is not digested by the body.
The calcium deficiency can be caused by many things, including EMF, lack of stomach acid, drinking sodas or any drink containing phosphoric acid, etc.
Primitive man had about 10 times the minerals in their body as Americans. They did not get cavities, gum disease, plaque, degenerative diseases of modern man, and had good digestion. Even the Neanderthals 25,000 to 30,000 years ago did not have cavities. Yet today, in our "modern" society, over 53% of ALL Americans are chronically ill and 3 out of 4 die with heart disease. Cancer is increasing, not decreasing after years of research and billions of dollars spent on things like chemotherapy that only appears to cure 2 to 3% of ALL the victims the medical industry subjects people too with that garbage.
To fix your immediate issues, I suggest you purchase a few products from a very high, quality company that will give you results quickly. The "B" vitamin deficiency can be fixed in a very short time by taking a product that contains ALL the "B" vitamins in their "end chain" form and will go into your system within 20 seconds of taking it. You will not get the "yellow urine" that all the other "B" vitamins give you because this product is not made from synthetic "COAL TAR DERIVATIVES" like ALL the other products being sold on the market. The yellow urine is the "B" vitamins going down the drain that your body did not want because it is toxic waste.
You need to take a quality probiotic so your body will start producing the "B's" naturally so you won't have to take the "B" supplement for only one month.
Go to: www.healthline.cc (not the .com web site with the same name, it is bogus) or call: (800) 370 - 3447 and order the following products:
Max Stress "B" --- take 1/4 tsp. first day and then slowly increase the amount to 2 tsp. per day within a 10 day period. Then take 2 tsp. per day for 1 month.
Probiotics -- take 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening.
Betaine HCL -- Take 2 to 3 after each meal
HCL Activator -- Take 1 after each meal
Quantum Digest -- Take 1 during each meal
Coral Complex -- Take 4 in the morning and 4 in the evening for 2 weeks and then taper off to 4 each day.
Greens Mix --- (order in vegetable capsule form) - Take 4 of these each day.
Make sure you get at least 15 minutes of pure sun without wearing sun glasses each day.
After one month of doing the above, you should have the results you are looking for and actually feel better too.
good luck to you
