Question: Blood substitutes? Are hemoglobin based oxygen carrters blood substitutes and if so can Jehovahs Witnesses accept them?
Answer: Yes.
Abstain from blood is very clear. What is not so clear is how far a object needs to be broken down to the point where it no longer qualifies as the original object.
Since whole blood is blood Jehovah's witnesses are to abstain from Red Cells, White Cells, Plasma and platetes.
Blood broken down is no longer blood so non-whole blood substitutes such as Red Cell fractions (Hemoglobin), White Cell fractions (Interferons and Interleukins), Plasma fractions (Albumin, Globulins, clotting factors), Platelets fractions (wound healing) can be used.
Question: Good title for research paper over blood substitutes? it discusses the benefits of blood substitutes and why the FDA should approve them. thanks!

Question: Fake Blood and Corn Syrup Substitutes? I need a good, non toxic/minimal staining recipe for fake blood my yr 9 class can use for macbeth. however, i can't use corn syrup because its hard to get in australia. is it possible to substitute something else or are there recipes that dont use this?
Answer: The thing that really does it, is the red food coloring.
Olive Oil has about the same consistency as Corn Syrup, so I'd use that.

Question: JW's: blood substitutes? Many times I have seen JW's claim on here that there are many substitutes for blood that are just as good as blood. What do you have to say in regards to a new study that was released? In this study they found out there is a 30% increased risk of death with blood substitutes and almost a 3-fold increase in heart attacks after using them. This is a 30% greater chance of death when compared to using blood. You are 3 times more likely to have a heart attack when using these substitutes. So how can you claim they are just as safe or even better?

Answer: I'm absolutely sorry to hear this news, actually.
No One In Their Right Mind Wants a Blood Tranfusion.
One day the medical community will figure it out, and I bet the answer will be a combination of methodologies, blood substitutes and blood treatment combined depending on the circumstance.
This isn't really the issue, though.. the issue is whether or not the blood doctrine is biblical.
Edit: I cannot believe you aren't getting more JW traffic on this question. I wonder if they feel they've been lied to by their Organization or will they feel this is not-so-good "new light" on blood alternatives.
Question: What characteristics are needed to substitute red blood cells? I was reading an article that researchers are developing several types of chemicals to be used as temporary red blood cell substitutes. I am curious how that is possible and what characteristics they would need to look at in order for that to happen.
Answer: The main characteristics are:
- The red blood cells should have a LOW MOLECULAR WEIGHT carrier molecule for transportation of O2
- The carrier molecule should have high affinity for the O2 and large surface area
- The RBC substitute should be biodegradable
- They should not consume O2 like that of real RBC as they lack mitochondria
- They should be charge independent to prevent coagulation
Question: Blood substitutes for vamps? I am in real need for something to help with the "thirst". I am getting desparate after my donor left town. Please help
If you don't know already about this you don't need to know.
Answer: Rare steak (best quick fix)
Prana-rich foods, such as:
Yogurt (preferably organic) with live cultures
50/50 plain yogurt mixed with V-8 juice
Fresh sprouts (ie. alfalfa)
Fresh, raw carrots (best with tops + roots on)
Fresh fruit
Fresh sushi
V-8 juice or equivalent
Fruit juice (my favorites are OJ or pomegranate)
Fruit juice mixed with red wine
Find a recipe for blood wine (ignore Klingon references). I haven't tried it, but there might be a link to recipes on Sanguinarius.org or from Lady CG's website. (It's basically squeezing blood out of steak or liver, mixing it with wine to kill bacteria, then straining it to make it more palatable. It has to be refrigerated.) Like steak, V-8 or fruit juice, it's not high in prana, but the taste should be calming.
Avoid caffeine + sugary foods, although dark chocolate can help sometimes.
Try to ambient psi-feed if you can too.
- P.
Question: Sanguinarians: Do you use anything to substitute blood with? I've heard of using food or beverages to substitute for blood if you can get any. I was wondering...
Does anyone do this? Does it work? and how do you make it?
Answer: just remember to mix that food with a dose of reality
