Question: how rear is it in a child that they have both acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) and acute myelogenous leukemia? my friends sister was diagnosed with both of those leukemia's and apparently its rear. how rear is it and will she be ok?
Answer: Well it's very rare because they're both leukemias, and both acute, but they effect different kinds of white blood cells. She will probably need 2 kinds of chemotherapy, and possibly a bone marrow or stem cell transplant. Both are curable (AML is harder to cure than ALL), but if both have been caught early, it'll be a long hard and intense fight, but she can make it and live a totally normal life afterwards.
Question: If my father passed away from Acute Myelogenous Leukemia, am I at risk for having it? I have been constantly exposed to second-hand smoke all my life and I have many of the symptoms. I'm wondering if I should see a doctor.
Answer: The second hand smoke exposure would add to your risk of lung and throat cancers but not AML.
AML by itself is not hereditary but there are several familial blood disorders that often progress into development of AML. So - unless your immediate relatives have a known blood disorder like Fanconi's anemia, Bloom syndrome, Down's syndrome or have a familial platelet disorder with predisposition for AML or a few other rare familial blood disorders then your risk of developing AML is pretty much the same as any one else's.
The main risk factor for AML is advancing age.

To evaluate your risk from second hand smoke you could get an elective spiral scan CT that is targeted to evaluate your risk from smoking or smoke exposure. If you do not have insurance they cost 325. cash in my part of the country and are not available at all radiology clinics as an elective procedure (without a Dr's referral). With a Dr's referral and insurance you can get this type CT done at any hospital or clinic with radiology facilities.
Question: Can a acute myelogenous leukemia patient have a "real" christmas tree? My grandmother was diagnosed with AML in August of this year. I went out and bought her a Christmas tree yesterday to bring some joy and happiness into her so she could decorate it like she always does. Then I realized oo maybe she cant have a tree. Does any one know if it is ok for her to have a tree or not. Any suggestions or answers would be soo much appreciated. Thank you all. God Bless.
Answer: When a leukemic patient has a low white blood cell count, it is considered that she is more capable to catch more infections. Therefore a fresh christmas tree probably wouldn't be a good idea to be in the house due to the molds, and fungi that may be on the tree, naturally. Just make sure her white blood cells are in the normal range, and she will be able to enjoy the tree you bought her. You are a wonderful grandchild for her, to think of her joy and happiness. I wish her the best, and Merry Christmas and God bless to both of you!

Answer: Get Essiac (or Eissac) Tea and give her two or three doses a day. It's tea, so there's no side effects. It is a native American cure for cancer that really works. I was coming down with the same symptoms my father had (died of Leukemia), but the tea reversed the symptoms. Keep praying, too.

Question: Can brief but direct exposure to toxic pest-control chemicals cause Acute Myelogenous Leukemia? Snack bar worker exposed to pest-control chemical by worker in a hazmat suit. Became deathly ill shortly after exposure and within 2-3 weeks was diagnosed with AML.
Answer: the term toxic should be enough no one knows what CAN cause what and there is the individual variation something can affect 1 in a million (SORRY AT WORK) and leave the other 999,999 untouched but if this goes to court you have 0% Chance without a documented history of cause and effect
