Question: What is the best alternative way to treat Mitral Valve Prolapse? I was diagnosed with Mitral valve prolapse yrs. ago, but this has got worse and very troublesome and is interfering with daily routines stay inside away from people because of panic attacks and anxiety feet legs ,hands, and under eyes swell up like b***ons and causes discomfort.I sweat *** the time and catch infections very easly. Is their any over the counter medicenes or vitamins that will help my condition?
Answer: Mitral valve prolapse is a structural abnormality of the heart. Over the counter self-treatment is not going to be effective for what can be a very serious problem.
The panic attacks that you describe are not a part of MVP. That sounds like a separate anxiety-related issue.
You need to see a physician for a thorough history and physical, plus cardiac workup to evaluate the severity of your problem, and to distinguish the cardiac issues from the anxiety issues. You may need to be on prescription medications to optimize your heart function. The last resort for mitral valve disease is valve replacement surgery.
People with MVP are susceptible to SBE - subacute bacterial endocarditis, which is an infection of the heart. It is difficult to treat and can lead to further heart problems.
If you let things go too long, your condition may progress to the point where little can be done. Make an appointment with a doctor ASAP and get yourself sorted out. This is nothing to fool around with.
Question: What are the chances of anal prolapse happening ? I would love to try anal sex but am worried about anal prolapse .Is it common ? I have used an anal sex toy before and I had a bit of leakage for the next few days .
Answer: You don't get anal prolapse from using a sex toy.
It's usually associated with the following conditions: advanced age, long term constipation, long term diarrhea, long term straining during defecation, pregnancy and stresses of childbirth, previous surgery, cystic fibrosis, COPD, and sphincter paralysis.
Question: My doctor prescribed me physical therapy for mild bladder prolapse. What will they do there? And will it make a difference? Will it cure the prolapse or just make my pelvic floor stronger? Is this a lifelong condition?
Answer: The physical therapist should definetely be someone who specializes in this treatment...not every clinic offers this, so you may need to do your homework.
The initial evaluation will focus on a history of your problem and well as an examination. It might include an internal examination and possible use of force tranducers to establish the strength of her pelvic floor. The aim of therapy is usually to reduce or eliminate episodes of incontinence or pelvic pain.
As to your actual prognosis, this would best be assessed by the PT evaluating you.
Question: My pregnant dog has vaginal prolapse. Will she have problems giving birth? My vet has never heard of vaginal prolapse during a pregnancy. (usually occurs at time of heat) Right now the tissue bulging out is about the size of a quarter. We are concerned about any complications she may have. Thanks everyone in advance.
Answer: She could have a lot of complications with birth and it if is extreme enough, she could have urination problems as well.
Also, once they have one, it is likely to reoccur. They can get very nasty, so it is best to get her checked out right away.
Call your local emergency clinic or if you have a Veterinary specialty clinic around, give them a call.

Answer: Literally, not much at all. Extra straining could undo all the work, pain and effort you have gone through. Don't even hoover or pick up a heavy bag for at least 6 weeks.
Best of Luck.
Question: What are the chances of me having another prolapse if my doctor wants me to have a partial hysterectomy? Uterine Prolapse, he wants to remove my cervix
Answer: A partial hysterectomy by definition is removal of the uterus. That said, if you have a partial hyst, you will have 0 chance of having a uterine prolapse because you will have no uterus. There is, however, a slight chance of intestinal and/or bladder prolapse occuring after a hysterectomy. This happens because the organs start to descend downwards, and can lead to such problems like constipation and/or urinary incontinence as well as pain during intercourse. Repair of the supporting structures can be done if this happens to help the patient, and it doesn't happen in all women who have had a hyst.
Removal of the cervix alone is not a hysterectomy; it is called a trachelectomy. Trachelectomy removes the cervix and a small portion of the lower "neck" of the uterus. Vaginal, uterine and bladder prolapse do occur in a small percentage of women who have undergone trachelectomy, but again, this does not happen in the majority of cases and can be treated surgically if and when it does.
Hope that helps.
Question: How much can ayurveda treatment help in disc prolapse and cord compression? My mother's MRI shows disc protrusion & prolapse of C5, L1, L2, L3, L4, L5 & S1, and weakness of left leg. currently she is undergoing ayurveda treatment and consultation from orthoneuro surgeons.
Answer: no, ayurveda can not help in prolapsed disc. only exercise or surgery could help... prolapsed disc is the gap between the disc bones which can not go with ayurveda treatment. follow what doctors advice you. if exercise wont help then only doctors will advice to go for surgery.

Question: What can cause uterine prolapse in a healthy 22 year old with no previous pregnancies? I've noticed in the last year my uterus has dropped down alot, my cervix is about an inch from the opening of my vagina. I dont know why this would happen bc I've never been pregnant, am a normal weight and in decent shape. Does anyone have an idea what could cause this?
Answer: I don't know how helpful this will be, but i've been told that sometimes it can be hereditary. And then on the other hand, it can sometimes be from physical activity. If you don't think that its affecting your health at the moment, you can do excersises to strengthen the muscles that hold you cervix tight. I suppose it would be what pregnant women do throughout their pregnancies to strengthen their pelvic muscles and maintain bladder control. You can always double check.
Question: Mitral Valve Prolapse and regurgitation: What symptoms do you have as a result of this condition? Please list other heart conditions you may have and their severities (mild, moderate, serious)
I do not need googled answers. I am fully capable of that. Please only respond if you have PERSONAL experiences.
Answer: My mitral and tricuspid valve regurgitation was moderate to severe. The symptoms can range from fatigue, shortness of breath, edema, palpitations, complications of endocarditis, blood clots and no energy. Possibly rheumatic fever may cause damage to the mitral valve. Later, may cause heart failure to both sides of the heart.Regurgitation is a backflow of blood caused by the failure of the (mitral) valve to close tightly. Mitral valve prolapse is a slight deformity to the mitral valve, a heart murmur is heard. I had open heart surgery to repair the two valves in 2003. 5 yrs later the regurgitation is now severe. I have other heart related problems to go with the regurgitation
Question: What are some exercises to help uteine prolapse? I have heard that a change in diet and certain exercises can help to improve uterine prolapse. I believe I have a mild case (just starting to see a bulge). I won't see my doctor for two months as that is the earliest appointment I can get. I am interested in reading up on the diet and exercises if someone could suggest a site or something.
Answer: Pelvic floor exercises
See the wiki and Anna Hayward's excellent site!

The doctor has told me to do kegel exercises, could I use the kegelmaster to strengthen my pelvic muscles and eventually avoid having to have a hysterectomy. I will do anything naturally to avoid surgery and in turn decrease the pressure I feel and the urinary frequency.
Looking forward to hearing from you at your earliest convince.
Thanking you in advance.
Answer: Exercising your pelvic floor muscles regularly can help prevent bladder problems. These exercises are called Kegels.

Question: Can I drink Green Tea if I have Mitral Valve Prolapse? I just found out that green tea has caffeine in it. I quit drinking coffee because I was diagnosed with MVP (Mitral Valve Prolapse), can I drink green tea at all?
Answer: Should not be a problem at all. If it aggravates you when you drink it, stop. MVP is usually a pretty benign diagnosis, and not a concern unless you have severe mitral regurgitation.
