Question: what is best position for sex in 9 th month of pregnancy to help in normal labor delivery.?
Answer: However you can make it work. If you are trying to make sex cause you to go into labor, make sure you have an orgasm. This gets the uterus contracting.
Question: How to enhance labor pain to execute normal delivery?
Answer: Whats wrong with you, are you a sadist?
less pain to execute normal delivery.
Question: Is it normal to be this terrified of labor and delivery? I am most likely going to be having my baby any day now! I am 37 weeks, but 3cm dilated and fully efaced! I almost was going to have her a couple days ago but the contractions stopped at the hospital (my doctor sent me there after my appointment). I am so terrified! It is to the point it feels like a dream and not reality. I am scared of every aspect of it! Any help?
Answer: Completely normal. When I would begin to feel scared about delivering, I would think of the millions of women before me who have done it. I would think of my ancestors who gave birth without the luxury of a hospital bed or the option of pain relief. It helped to calm me down a bit to think of all those who have gone through it for centuries before me, then I knew that everything would be okay. You too will make it through and in a few days, you won't even remember the fear you are feeling now, you will be overcome with the joy of the new life you have the privilege of being a part of. Good luck, and just try to relax and savor every moment. They go by so much more quickly once you have children.
Question: How was your labor and delivery? I have had a child but my experience was much different than what I witnessed my sister going through. I am wondering if I got lucky or if she has a low tolerance for pain.
I had pre-eclampsia, was induced 2 weeks early and had an epidural 1 hour after being induced and only felt the internal pressure and the exhaustion from pushing. I understand it is painful but...
My sister went through the normal labor contractions without any meds and was definitly in pain. She got her epidural at about 8cm of dialation and 45 minutes to an hour before pushing. She claimed she felt everything and screamed and fought without pushing the more meds button she had in her hand.
My neice was finally born an hour later but with a lot of yelling on both sides of the delivery (her and the doctor and nurses).
My question is. If you had the epidural and began delivery within 45 minutes, did you feel a lot of pain? I was told it is procedure to give the epidural later but I don't want that pain.
Answer: What probably happened with your sister was that in an effort to allow her to experience her labour and urge to push, the epidural was not topped up. It is quite probable that she felt quite a lot of pain, but as you say, every experience of birth is different and pain threshold varies greatly from person to person. The epidural was administered quite late in the labour and I would question whether at 8 cm this was reasonable. The problem is with the epidural you don't get the urge to push and it can slow conractions down. You had your epidural much earlier in labour, were induced so your experience was much different. My epidural removed all pain but because I wasn't pushing properly - because of this - I had a forceps delivery after 19 hours. If your wish is to be pain free, then you must make that clear to the health professionals and make your choices. You know you might be surprised at your ability to cope with labour there are many ways to help the labour moving along. The problem with epidural is that you are unable to move around, change position readily etc and there you are lying down, quite often in stirrups and you're pushing uphill, so to speak.!!
Question: Why was blood work taken during my labor/delivery? While I was in labor with my son, my blood pressure kept going high. They did emergency blood work during my labor/delivery and the results came back normal. What were they checking for?
Answer: They were probably checking for preclampsia and HELLP syndrome or other causes of the BP going high. I had HELLP syndrome during my pregnancy and it affects your platelet count to drop very low so your blood won't clot. They need to know as in my case I hemmorhaged as a result of HELLP.
Question: Is it normal for me to not be scared about labor and delivery? ? I know its going to be painful, but I am not stressed about it, or worry about it at all.
Answer: I was the same way. After my water broke, I called my husband and doctor, then I showered, got into fresh clothes and mopped up the bathroom floor, very calmly. You spend nine months getting mentally ready for it. My attitude was, "It's about time. I'm SO ready."
Question: is it normal to wish i was still in the hospital (labor and delivery)? i just had my baby on the 9th and i get really depressed because i loved being pregnant and going to the docs and getting sonograms twice a week...they delivered her 2 weeks early(c-section) and i really loved my hospital stay and i wish i was still at the hospital...normal or not?
Answer: I loved being in the hospital. What's not to like about someone taking care of everything else for you? Once you get back home it's back to reality. Even though it's great it's still depressing because no one is going to do your laundry, wash your dishes or cook your food. Don't stress about it. The first year goes by sooooooo fast and before you know it, you'll have a routine down and be back in the swing of things.
Question: Got steroid shot today at labor and delivery and now having contractions. Normal? I'm 33 weeks today and my baby is behind in size due to my placenta not giving enough nourishment. Other than her size, they beleive she is healthy and she passes her non-stress tests and other tests. I have low fluid and today went in for a a non-stress test (which I'm taking 3 times a week) and had high blood pressure for the first time. I have all the signs of preeclampsia (horrible horrible swelling, headaches, protein in urine) but the blood test came back okay. They think I may be starting to have preeclampsia so they gave me a steroid shot today for the baby's lungs, and put me on a 24 hour "pee" test (pee in a jug for 24 hours, bring it back to hospital). Tomorrow they are testing me again for preeclampsia, giving me my 2nd steroid shot, and doing another non-stress test. In the meantime, I have not really had many BH contractions and I've never had them while hooked up to the monitor but I think I've been having them all night. I can't even sleep because of the pressure and my lower back hurts as well. Is this normal to have contractions first of all at 33 weeks and also right after having a steroid shot? Could the steroid shot be causing the contractions? I don't know how to time them... and can't really tell when they are "over", but I can tell when another one starts. I may have had 2 or 3 in one hour? Should I go to Labor and Delivery? It's 2 am and I'm going back tomorrow at 2 pm in the afternoon- should I go early? My regular OB is on vacation and I have a fill-in otherwise I'd be calling her!
Thanks for reading this long question!
More info: I have not had water break and I'm not dilating. The contractions don't "hurt", just a little stronger than I have felt in the past with slight pressure on lower back. I'm going to rest a bit and see how I feel after drinking water.
Answer: Hey there. No prob about the long questions. At least it will match my long answer Lol
To answer you, no, steroids will not cause you to go into labor. If you are feeling a lot of pressure, especially pain in you lower back, I would suggest going to the hospital immediately. Even if turns out to be a false alarm it is better to be safe that sorry.
The insidious thing about preeclampsia is that it can hit at any time, and even if you have been doing just fine before labor, there is a possibility that it could sneak up on you. You need to be monitored. Since they gave you steroids they were expecting the posibility of an early delivery, so at least you are prepared on that score.
Regular doc or not, get on that phone and make arrangements! Also, be on the lookout for any kind of discharge. You didn't mention if you had any dilation. If you haven't you need to be watching for your mucus plug, which will look like you sneezed in your undies. There could be blood on it too! If you notice that you are damper than usually it is possible that what little fluid you had could be coming out because your water broke.
As for the contractions, sometimes they are hard to notice. If you can't sleep through them it would definitely suggest that they are not BH. I never bothered to count mine but paid more attention to my pain levels. When I got to the point where I couldn't smile through a contraction I knew I was at about 8cm and it was time to start concentrating. Up to that point I wasn't worried about progress.
Whatever happens I wish you all the best and am totally excited for you!! Holding your little girl in your arms is going to be the best feeling ever!!
Question: Will induced labor hurts more than normal labor and what are the risks? My husband is working at a different country and can only take leave from work for 1 week or so. We both want it badly for him to be around for my delivery. My gynaelogist suggested induced labor at 38 weeks (slightly less that 2 weeks of my due date)
I am curious about whether the pain will be worse when induced labor that early. Also, what are the risks I am facing?
Answer: the pain is shocking but i don't think there are any risks

Question: With a "normal" delivery, how long do they generally keep new mother's in the hospital? I mean without a c-section (emergency or scheduled) and full term...with my mom's first they kept her 3 days, and by the time her youngest was born they were basically kicking her out as soon as possible.
How long AFTER delivery (because i know labor varies) can I count on staying in the hospital?
Answer: I stayed 2 days with my first 2 but chose to go home the day after with my third.
