Question: does genital herpes affect pregnancy or getting pregnant in the future? and if found positive with STD ( sexually transmitted disease) like herpes, as a foreign worker, will u be deported back?
Answer: It would only affect you if at the time of delivery you had an outbreak, then you would have a c-section.
No, they cannot discriminate because of a sexually transmitted disease.
Question: can having genital herpes in pregnancy cause a miscarriage? i read that it is possible to have a miscarriage in the 1st/2nd trimesters if you have an outbreak, is it true or can you take a medicine to clear it up,i know the website said medicines in last month of pregnancy but i cant find anything about early pregnancy treatments.this was just a general subject that came up earlier in my office of women and 3 of being pregnant, you know how women talk about everything.
Answer: No it can not. All you have to do is be honest with your Gyno. Dr. & she'll make sure you will have the medicine when it is needed. Meanwhile the outbreaks happen because of stress .Try not to get upset/mad etc. Take yourself out of the disruption (hollering or screaming etc.), if it's happening around you.YOUR BABY NEEDS IT AS WELL AS YOU. Put a candle in the bathtub light it( lock your door). Have a bubble bath ready ,take a book or your ipod in and just relax thinking of nothing . YOU SO DESERVE IT.LESS STRESS MAKES MOMMY COMFORTABLE (EVERYWHERE) AND HAPPY AS WELL AS BABY.
Question: Is it routine to test for genital herpes during pregnancy? I had an std test when I was pregnant... I was just wondering if herpes would have been included in the battery.
Answer: to test for herpes..they would swab lesions or an area that u may have complained about....otherwise they check your blood with a finger stick. its pretty quick to get tested...alot of people have herpes and dont know it.
Question: Can you have a healthy pregnancy with genital herpes? Can you breastfeed? I am curious as to the ablity to have a healthy and normal pregnancy if you have Herpes..and also can you breastfeed?
Answer: Yes you can, I have it and i'm still going to be able to deliver vaginally and breastfeed. All they'll do is when you get a certain amount of weeks put you on valtrex until you deliver that way you won't have an outbreak before the baby is born and spread it.
Question: Genital Herpes + Pregnancy question? I was told that since I have had HSV type 1 for 3 years, it is less likely that I will pass this to my child.
Is that true? Has anyone HSV+ given birth to a healthy baby?
Answer: Generally if the mother is positive for herpes then the baby will be delivered via C section to avoid passing the virus to the baby. You should have no problem having a healthy baby.
Question: Genital Herpes & Pregnancy? I am currently 18 weeks pregnant. Can anything happen to the baby if my husband & i have intercorse while having an outbreak? Everything I read is about giving birth with an outbreak, but nothing WHILE pregnant
Answer: that depends on if you both have it or not. it is strongly suggested that women do not contract herpes while they are pregnant because it can carry some fatal complications for the baby. however, if you already have it, there is nothing wrong with having sex during an outbreak. the only thing that you might be concerned about is that you cannot deliver vaginally while you are having an outbreak.
Question: does anyone know about genital herpes and pregnancy? im clear on the fact that doctors only give a c-section if your having an active outbreak at delivery but what are the chances of a newborn getting the desease delivering vaginally if u had the virus for a year and also taking the valtrex is the risk almost imposible? or is it likely
Answer: Ask your OB/GYN. But, from what I've heard, most herpes outbreaks in infected people are caused by too much elevation of the stress hormone in the body... and I can only imagine a few more things more stressful than having a baby. Your baby will get blood in their eyes, nose, mouth and sex organs when vaginally delivered, I'd definitely check to see.
Question: Genital herpes and pregnancy? A friend of mine has genital herpes for 3 years and is now in her second trimester, she said she would have a breakout maybe once a year and in her first trimester she was tching a couple of times but no blisters showed and they normally do, is this dangerous wto be getting breakouts in the second trimester. I no its bad if she has a breakout at the time of labor but other than that would she be ok if she didnt have a breakout then? Thanks
Answer: Your friend is going to be just fine. Genital Herpes is an extremely common virus, one that OB's are consistently aware of. If she has an active outbreak, her child can be taken via C-section. She just needs to be fully aware of her outbreaks, and make sure not to deliver if she is having an outbreak. Her OB will help prevent this. My guess is she is fully aware of the complications of delivering with an outbreak - blindness for her newborn, breathing complications, infections, and death. But, as long as she delivers C-section, both mom and sweet baby will be just fine! Let her know this. It's hard enough to prepare for birth. Herpes just makes it more complicated, but certainly not unachievable.
Question: how can genital herpes affect pregnancy?
Answer: It can cause blindness or even death if the baby catches the virus while traveling through the birth canal. Most babies will be fine if their mother's has genital herpes if delivered via C-Section.
One of my cousins died after contracted herpes simplex I (the kind people get on their mouths) when she was a few months old. Here is some more info I found:
"About half of infants who are treated with antiviral medication escape permanent damage. But others may suffer serious neurological damage, mental retardation or death. It's fear of these terrible consequences, rather than the level of risk, that makes neonatal herpes a concern.
If you are pregnant and you-have genital herpes, you will want to talk with your obstetrician or midwife about how to manage the infection and minimize the risk to your baby.
In about 90% of cases, neonatal herpes is transmitted when an infant comes into contact with HSV- 1 or 2 in the birth canal during delivery. There is a high risk of transmission if the mother has an active outbreak, because the likelihood of viral shedding during an outbreak is high. There is also a small risk of transmission from asymptomatic shedding (when the virus reactivates without causing any symptoms)."
Question: HPV Genital Herpes and Pregnancy? I've been recently diagnosed with HPV.
Can I still get pregnant without harming my baby and partner?
I know using condoms will protect my partner from catching the virus, but what happens if we want to get pregnant?
Answer: Yes you can still have a baby and not have any problems. Your children will also be healthy.
