Question: Abortion???????????!>? Im not prego. I would never have an abortion. But how do u have an abortion? Is it like takeing pills? Or do you have the baby early? Or what?
Answer: If it's before 12 weeks you can have a chemical abortion and you will just bleed like a period. If it's after 12 weeks, they will do the vacuum method. They dilate your cervix and extract the fetus that way.. I don't even want to go into later term or partial birth abortions.. you can google that... I am pro-choice up until later term and partial birth abortions.. that is just wrong...
Question: ~ ! ~ Abortion? ~ ! ~? I think abortion is TOTALLY 100% wrong! But i would love to know what you think. (Please Support you answered. be detailed)
Answer: *I apologize in advance for the length, but this needs to be said.
Abortion is wrong. All the time.
I have prayed and cried too many nights about this topic. It hurts me. It genuinely hurts me to know that there are children out there... dying... every minute... and that their own MOTHERS are the ones that support it, that set them up for it. It just, makes me cry... too much... and too often...
Imagine a woman. She is your average, middle-aged person. In the past, she has had three miscarriages and her most recent baby was born brain dead. She is now pregnant with another child. Would you abort the baby?
If you said yes, you would have just aborted Beethoven. Yes, Beethoven was born under those circumstances. You would have invariably altered history forever.
Did you know that over 2 million babies are aborted every year? That's two million Beethovens whose lives ended before they even began. One of those 2 million children could have discovered a way to stop global warming or cure cancer. But they were not given the chance.
In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson wrote, "..that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, and among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." By abortion, we are depriving our children of rights they are entitled to. After they are aborted, they can no longer pursue happiness, liberty, or life. We're committing the same wrong our founding fathers fought so hard to overcome.
Have you ever researched some methods which are used to abort babies? One involves inducing the mother to give premature birth and then leaving the baby unattended to die. Another involves injecting the baby with an extremely poisonous liquid solution and allowing the baby to receive severe chemical burns until it dies. Still another method requires the abortion doctor to rip the baby apart limb from limb while inside the mother and pull the dead baby parts. These methods of taking human life are extremely inhumane. These methods aren't used on murderers or any other types of criminals, and criminals have already harmed society. These methods aren't even acceptable for use on stray animals. Yet they are deemed "the norm" for murdering unborn human beings.
As far as teen pregnances go, don't even conceive the baby in the first place. You knew the consequences of sex beforehand, you chose to ignore the consequences of sex when you did it, you chose to have sex, and now you must face the consequences. It may sound condemning, but that's life in the real world. The real world where you don't just bat your puppy-dog eyes at your dad and he puts you off grounding. Every action has a reaction. Action = Sex, Reaction = Pregnancy. And to be honest, you should just thank your lucky stars you didn't get an STD to go along with that pregnancy...
And as far as victims of rape go, I'm not telling you having that baby will be easy. It could very well be the most dificult thing you'll ever have to do. But it will be well worth it to know that you gave that child a chance. That you didn't kill it. What they tell you at the abortion office is, "We do this, and this, and this, and then 'ta da!' no more baby and no more problems!". But what they don't tell you about are the emotional effects on you. The effects that cling to you months, even years after the abortion is done. The fact that your hormones will be totally out of whack for no apparent reason. That your family, especially if you have young children, will likely not completely understand what you're going through. The fact that no one will truly be able to help. The fact that every day for the rest of your life, you will wonder "What if I had let that baby live?" The last thing you need on top of the effects of a rape is the effects of an abortion. And, no matter how it is conceived, that baby is still half yours, no matter where the other half is. It is still a child and needs to be treated as such.
Some people claim that the baby is part of the mother's body. How can you say that the baby is part of the mother's body? It may be inside her body, but it has an entirely different combination of genes. It has its own blood type and system, its own brain, and half of the babies conceived are even of a different gender. Yes, the baby does depend on the mother for nourishment, but even we adults depend on things like food, water, and oxygen to survive, yet we are not considered the food, the water, or the oxygen itself. How, then, are we able to justify the ending of one human being's life on the grounds that another human has the right to do what they want to themselves? Your rights end at the point where someone else's rights begin. That child has a right to live. Your right to do what you want ends when you want to kill that baby. You have absolutely no right at all to infringe upon anyone else's rights, including the baby's.
If you knew you could save one person's life today, wouldn't you at least try? Please, be a giver of life, not a taker.
Aren't you glad your parents were givers?

Question: How is the abortion process carried out on someone that is 19 weeks pregnant ? I have heard that the way an abortion is done depends on how far pregnant you are.
For example, the abortion process on someone that is 8 weeks pregnant would be completely different to a one on someone this 18 weeks pregnant.
I also heard that if you want an abortion after you are 24 weeks pregnant, you have to pay a lot of money to get it done.
How long does it take ? Do you have to stay in a hospital ? Does it hurt like giving birth does ?
Answer: I had an abortion at 6-7 weeks (my doc told me there was no chance to keep the child). They gave me a shot and I fell asleep, after 15 minutes - woke up. No pains, no post-abortion problems.
I think it depends on the organism a lot. Anyway, mini-abortions done by good docs are not painful. Cannot tell anything about "bigger" ones...
Question: If abortion is made Illegal, what should happen to women who then have abortions? Should they also be put to death or given life in prison? If you believe that abortion is murder, then how can they be punished any differently than how society punished murderers now?
If you don't punish them at all, then why even make it illegal?
Answer: First of all, abortion should not be made illegal for many reasons, but pertaining to your question, you are correctly assuming that women will find a way to have abortions. These abortions may be done by back ally butchers with coat hangers, like they were in the past. If this happens, we needn't worry about punishing these women, they will probably die from infection or complication from the procedure.
Question: What is the cheapest abortion procedure to get? I am considering an abortion for my own personal reasons, please do not preach or lecture to me about it, it's my choice on what's best in this situation. I need to know which abortion method would probably be the least expensive, but I would also like to know a little info about all the procedures, please.
I might be pregnant and don't have a lot of money or any income coming. I live in the US, where abortion is generally not free.
Answer: The life of another human being is in your hands. It is alive, even many pro-choice people say so.

Question: Is abortion a important topic to you when voting for president? I take into consideration many things when voting. Especially my beliefs, morals and financial state.
If it questions my morals, it puts me into check.
I can make a better decision.
Obama is for abortion, apparently 3rd trimester??? From what I understand. I am Catholic and highly against it. I voted for McCain due to that factor.
What do you think?
Answer: I think the President doesn't have as much say in the matter as people think, but I do believe in personal freedom, and that is a sort of touchstone issue.
If you don't believe in abortion, don't have one.
Question: How long after an abortion can you be fingered or master bate? My cousin just had an abortion and she has no computer so she was wondering how long after a abortion can you master bate or get fingered? How long till you can have sex again?
My cousin was 15 and she had a surgical abortion. She wanted to know.
Answer: Doctors advise a woman NOT to do anything of a sexual nature for at least 6 weeks, as the body needs to heal.
Question: How is abortion not murder when it’s done to save the mother’s life? You're killing an innocent baby nonetheless and just as violently as any other abortion. It doesn't matter if it's going to die. Killing is wrong.
Answer: Abortion is murder no matter the reason. And for the person who said that abortion is just a scraping off of some cells- you have got to be kidding- abortions are not even done before a heart is beating and organs are starting to develop. 3 weeks after conception the heart is beating, and that is before most women find out that she is pregnant. And about the health of the mother. I know at least 3 women who got pregnant and was told if they carried their baby, they would most likely die. One of them was diagnosed with cancer, and waiting 7 months to deliver her baby before they could treat her would cause an advancement in the cancer. By the way, what happened to those moms? They are all fine, and their babies were given life.
Question: How does abortion affect the body for future pregnancy? I've had one abortion and am going to have another, what type of toll is this taking on my body for future pregnancies.
To all the people who are answering and trying to tell me what to do with MY life, that's not the question at hand. For those people who want to pry and try to make someone feel bad about themselves, FUCK OFF, thats not what I came here for. I wasn't using protection the first time, and yes that was wrong. This time I was and the pills were not effective at preventing pregnancy. And NO I AM NOT READY TO HAVE A CHILD, and that's my own business none of yours. No, please answer the question that is being asked of you, if you can't then find another person to piss off. Have a nice day
Answer: possibility of infection and scar tissue. once scar tissue starts developing it can be difficult for the fetus to survive in the uterus. since this will be your 2nd you should really think about another form of BC. i SERIOUSLY caution patients after 3 abortions.
i've had patients that had 3-10 abortions and they conceived with no problem.
Question: What does abortion actually do to a fetus? I've been having a big debate about the moral right/wrongness of abortion with my parents and they say all kinds of horrible things that happen to it. The problem is they are so inconsistent about what it actually does or how it's done that I'm not sure I can trust anything they say on the topic. Please help.
Answer: No matter what your parents say, the fact is that abortion terminates the pregnancy. No one (even pro-choicers) deny that. Second, It kills the CHILD. Life begins at conception. The actual procedure varies depending on how far along you are. None of them are MORAL. In the 1st trimester, a D&C is used...vacuuming out the baby...2nd trimester there are a variety of ways...in some cases they burn the baby, but most often now days they breaks its limbs off in pieces and pull it out... 3rd term...deliver baby until everything is out but head...cut a hole in his/her neck and suck brains out...yes, they wiggle through the whole process...sometimes they live...and they set them aside to die... Google silent cry. :( BABIES HAVE A HEABEAT AS EARLY AS 5 WEEKS AND CAN FEEL PAIN BY 8 WEEKS. Abortion is wrong. Oh and if you watch live abortion video Silent Cry the baby actually runs from the pliers...and looks like he is crying...so sad...he knows... RIDICULOUS. And these women call themself women and mothers. The B*T*H*S are going to hell...with the rapists and murderers...well, all except those who are GENUINELY sorry...
Question: abortion.....? abortion....is it considered killing? or what? what are your thoughts? do you agree on murder of a unborn child? is unethical?
any statistics on getting a disease after an abortion? or dying?
NOTE:
I understand that this a contrevorsial topic, and that these are just opinions. So, please stop with insults and leave your comments to yourself if you arent planning to help out with a simple but complicated question.
Answer: I have thought about this quite a bit over the years. The wide spread of opinions is incredible, matched only by the passion of the activists on all sides. This is an issue that few people are even able to have a civilized discussion about. Complicating it further is that there are few that hold a black-and-white few of the issue. The majority of people in the US see abortion as a giant grey area with varying degrees of abortion considered acceptable. Very few people hold the position of unlimited abortion access or no abortion under any circumstances. Below is the process I went through to come up with my position on the matter.
First, I asked myself the question at what point does a human being obtain "personhood" and as such gain all the legal and moral protections that status entitles them to? There are some who say that the point of personhood is 28 days AFTER birth, at which point you still should be allowed to abort. In fact, there is a professor of ethics at Princeton University that actively advocates this position. This is the position that spurred “Born Alive” legislation that says if a woman has an abortion and the baby survives, that doctors cannot withhold care and let the baby die on the operating table. Others say up to the point of birth. These folks would hold that partial birth abortion is a reasonable procedure. Or perhaps just before while the mother is in labor. Or 6 months of gestation or 3 months or three weeks. I wrestled with this for a long time.
Then I looked at the issue a different way. Does human life have an imputed value or an intrinsic one? If we say that it is imputed, meaning the value is derived from something else, some outside criteria, then any one of the above positions would be equally valid. We as a society would decide what criteria to select. My problem with this is what criteria do you use? On what basis is a baby at 6 weeks more valuable than a baby at 5 weeks? Is a baby that has not yet developed a heart still a baby? This hit really hard on my wife and I when we lost one of our children. Lynne had a miscarriage a few years ago. When people with strong pro-choice sentiments gave us their condolences, they referred to the fetus as a child, even though she (we named her Grace, even though we do not know for sure if she was a she or a he. It made it easier to explain to the children what happened and easier for Lynne and I to grieve our loss) was at the same gestational point, 9 weeks, that they believed abortion was merely removing some unwanted tissue of the mother. So, the criteria used is whether or not a child is wanted. If that is so, then why?
By similar logic, if the value of human life is imputed, it can also be taken away, depending on what some person or group of persons believe that life is worth. So if you happen to be mentally retarded or black or Jewish, it would be perfectly reasonable for you to be killed off for the good of the community if they believe it. I have a friend who is paralyzed from the neck down. There are some in the world who would look at her and say that she has no quality of life or that the money and effort to support her would be better used on others. They would have her die due to her handicap. But knowing her the way I do I find the notion that she is without a quality of life to be ridiculous on its face. She is a writer, a painter, a social worker, and heads up an international charity. I’d call that a pretty good quality of life. So would her husband who married her years after her accident put her in the wheelchair. Thus, the imputed value logic is shown to me to be completely arbitrary. Following any of the “prior to this point it is not human but at this one on it is” positions is likewise arbitrary and does not answer the question of personhood.
But consider the proposition that human life has an intrinsic value. That it is valuable simply because it is human life and no other reason. No measure or quantification of the value of it, it is and that is enough. It is sort of like gold. Gold is valuable because it is gold, not because we as a society stood up one day and said, “we are going to make gold valuable”. Gold has an intrinsic value as opposed to an imputed value, such as paper currency. Paper currency is worthless in and of itself. It has value only because we say it has a certain value.
This position then would support a clear line between human life and not human life. With this position, you are a human at the point that you have a unique genetic code. In other words, at inception. Prior to inception, there was no “you”. The male and female reproductive components in and of themselves are not a unique genetic code, but merely parts of the donors. It is only when they combine to create new life do “you” begin to be a person.
The notion of intrinsic value also carries forward throughout life. My mother-in-law was on dialysis for several months before diabetes finally took her life. There are many who would have said that she should just die and not burden the rest of us. If those persons held the position that human life has imputed value, I can understand. I however, believe that human life is intrinsically valuable and worth preserving and protecting for as long as possible. Thus, we should protect life at the beginning and at the end and at all points in between.
So, we come full circle back to the question of abortion. Should it be outlawed? My answer, since I believe in the intrinsic value of human life, is that for the most part it should. Why only “for the most part”? Because there are times when you have to weigh the life of two humans and pick one to live and one to die. My sister-in-law faced such a problem once. She got pregnant from her husband and it turned out to be a tubal pregnancy. Had the child been allowed to grow inside of her, it would have killed her before the baby would have been able to survive on its own. Thus, in weighing these two lives, one would have to conclude that the baby would have to die in order to save the mother’s life. What about cases of rape or incest? I have 5 daughters (yes, that was no typo) and the thought of one of them being raped is always lurking in the back of my mind. If one of them should get pregnant as a result, the hard decision would be to let that child live. Pregnancy is not the extremely dangerous event of the past. Rarely do people die from giving birth. Many more die as a result of complications after an abortion. But the bottom line is that the child is innocent of any crime, so why punish it? I’m not saying it is an easy choice and I can certainly sympathize with those who have had to make it. Perhaps they even made the wrong choice. But, God is a loving and forgiving God, who can even forgive the taking of a human life. Which is what abortion is.
Question: What are some reasons to be for abortion? I personally are AGAINST abortion, it's murder! But for my R.E class, we are talking about abortion and the religious attitudes to contraception and abortion.
Bad thing is, my teacher just asked the class to write a debate speech on abortion, and she herself has put us into pairs and has chosen whether we are for or against abortion; and we have to write a speech on it. I have to write about being for abortion! Agh, help me out!
Answer: "A person is a person, no matter how small" ~ Dr Suess
Question: How illogical is it to defend abortion on the moral grounds of protecting the mother's life? This whole "we have to make abortion available to eliminate the risks associated with back-alley abortions" line makes no sense to me! It assumes the mother's life has value and the child's has none.
The pro-life movement wants to preserve the lives of both the child AND the mother. Isn't that more reasonable?
*******
And peanut gallery: If you feel you must make "babby" comments, please try to accompany it with a real comment, as well. Thanks!
Answer: The fact of the matter is that a very very small percentage of abortions performed can be linked to the "mother's health" category. So small compared to the total that it's basically a non existent cause. Abortions for the most part are about convenience.
Question: How can some people approve of abortion yet disapprove of capital punishment? How can a person approve of abortion, which is the death of innocent human life, yet be against capital punishment, which is the execution of guilty humans who have murdered people. It doesn't make sense! How can people be "humane" by disapproving capital punishment but still believe in abortion?
How are they completely separate things? They both are issues of life and death.
Answer: I'm for both, the world is over populated enough.
Some criminals don't deserve life and some fetuses never achieve it in the first place.
I do not consider a clump of cells to be a human being. You can argue with me all day until you are blue in the face. I will not change my mind and I don't expect anyone else to change theirs. Stupid to argue in this case.
But on the subject of capital punishment I will say I think the courts should meet the highest standards to ensure that the right person is convicted of the right crime. If you make a hasty and inaccurate decision not only would you kill someone for something they did not do, but you also ensure the freedom of the real criminal.
Question: IF abortion was made illegal, what would be proper punishment for those who perform illegal abortions? Also, should the woman be punished, or the person who provided the illegal abortion?
Answer: If abortion was made illegal, there should be no punishment for the woman or the doctor. Women should have the right to decide if they want to have a child or not. The world is already overpopulated with 6.6 billion people. I'm sure having one abortion isn't going to cause the human race to end.
Question: If I had an abortion before would i be concidered a high risk pregnancy? Before you all go crazy on me I had to have an abortion it was implanted in my tubes. This was in April. Im about 5 weeks 4 days right now just worried.
Answer: Nope, absolutely not. I had an abortion and went on to have four wonderful children. Never was I considered high risk by my doctor. And congrats!!! Enjoy!
