Question: What might be wrong with my stomach? Chronic Gastritis? Any ideas for treatment? I've had upper left abdominal pain since october, i seem to have chronic gastritis (symptoms improve with peptobismol and since ive been taking prilosec). I dont want to go to a specialist if i dont have to but my doc will probably make me soon. im negative for h. pylori. hyocyamine didnt help. anyone else had this problem? howd they fix it?
Answer: I don't think you have chronic Gastritis, symptoms of that are pain, a burning sensation, vomiting, loss of appetite, cramps, diarrhea, which can be mild to severe. Because you are having pain on the left side rather than your right, it is probably not a problem with gallbladder, liver, or pancreas. You should see a gastroenteroligist. It could be a peptic ulcer, If it is related to your digestive system you should be having other symptoms as well as pain. nausea is most common, and the pain is often aggravated by eating. Since you have been having pain for such a long time I think it's time you had some tests done. See your Dr.
Question: what foods should be avoided if you have chronic gastritis? I have chronic gastritis, any suggestions on which foods to eat and which foods to avoid
Answer: Consumption of foods and beverages that irritate the lining of the stomach or increase the stomach acids should be avoided completely or reduced, and known allergens eliminated. These often include:
Alcohol
Acidic drinks such as coffee (with and without caffeine)
Milk
Carbonated beverages
Spices and peppers (for some people this is important, while for others such foods do not seem to cause symptoms or inflammation)
Question: Can chronic gastritis cause Pernicious Anemia? Does chronic gastritis cause Pernicioua Anemia and if so, what is the duration between onset and the resulting B-12 defiency? Once the gastritis is corrected, does the intrinsic factor return?

Question: What is the role of Helicobacter pylori in chronic gastritis?
Answer: H Pylori is a bacteria that lives between the lining of your stomach and the muscle and it is passed on from fecal matter, for example a food handler that uses the bathroom and doe's not wash his hands good then handles food and pass it on to a customer or whomever decides to eat the food. It is between the stomach lining and the muscle to protect itself from the acids in the the stomach. Now what it doe's is causes ulcers in the stomach which can become bleeding ulcers, the treatment that is most effective is a medication called helodac therapy which is a combination of antibiotics, which must be taken for two weeks without missing a dose. the medication comes on a card of sixteen pills that must be taken morning, noon afternoon and night, so you take four pills at once four times a day for two weeks. the medication works and will get rid of the bacteria however depending on how bad the ulcers were you may have to take prilosec for the gastritis or in some cases you wont. helidac therapy will heal the ulcers and can keep them from coming back for a year or more. a few years ago i was told I had h pylori and i thought oh lord its the end of the world but that was not the case/ As i said at the beginning it is transferred through fecal matter so whether its a resturant or eating elsewhere once you get rid of it be careful of your eating habits or who you eat from.So to answer your question hpylori causes ulcers the acids from your stomach causes gastritis once you have completed the medication as prescribed the ulcers are healed are you are pretty much back to normal. for more information just google H Pylori and there is tons of info. good luck.... also my brother in law had it and his doctor put him on some other type of medication that did not work when i told him about helidac therapy he mentioned it to his doctor and he prescribed it and he too is back to normal
Question: Chronic Gastritis and the juice diet? I have chronic gastritis and it is so hard for me to eat anything without wanting it throw it back up. I heard a juice diet for 7 days (only if you are chronic) will help and then you start off eating easy food after that. What kinda juice do you use and how many times a day. I am not doing it to lose weight I just want my normal stomach back :(
I have never changed my eating habits besides to healthier, they assume its from stress..
Answer: Unhealthy food habit, lack of nutritional food is the major cause of gastritis. Patient suffering from gastritis should keep fast for 3-4 days. He may be given warm water during these days. The main idea behind keeping him abstain from food is the inflammation in the stomach will decrease as all the toxic material inside the stomach will diminish.
Patient can also be given juicy fruits like grapes, apples, oranges, water melons, etc., 2-3 times a day. Patient should survive on these juicy fruits only, at least for 2-3 days. This fruit-diet gives fast relief and detoxifies the stomach. Patient should realize very well that unhealthy food habit, excess intake of alcohol and other drugs are the main cause of gastritis, and they should not forget this.
Once patient start showing improvement, he can be given balanced gastritis diet containing cereals, grams, green leafy vegetable, juicy fruits, etc.
Question: Chronic gastritis and weight lifting? Hi! I was diagnosed recently with chronic gastritis, which my doctor found out to be due to H Pylori bacteria, and am currently taking medications for it. My question is, is it OK for me to do some weight lifting even if I have gastritis?
Answer: It's fine to continue weight lifting.
Your doctor should have given you either azithromycin or clarithromycin, amoxicillin, and a proton pump inhibitor such as prilosec, previcid, protonix, or nexium.
Question: Can chronic gastritis be caused by too little acid produced in stomache ? We all know it can be caused by too much acid. What about too little acid ? thanks
Answer: no.
Question: Chronic Gastritis........................? I have Chronic Gastritis, and I cant take it anymore! I dont want to eat because I feel full all the time. I shed weight like nothing and I am underweight, I know this sounds GREAT but IT"S NOT.! I am on medication. but I just feel that it doesnt work at all. I'm tired of this. I wish I had a normal stomach. I feel very sad and unhappy : (...... I cant take it anymore...........!!!!!!!!!!
Answer: I have had chronic gastritis for years so I feel your pain. In the beginning, I took a low doses of different prescription medications like Aciphex, Nexium, Prevacid. They all worked for only a short time. I had the best luck with Aciphex 40mg? It's the highest dose available. I actually stopped taking it a year ago after two years of use and I've been fine. I also was underweight but you can be a "normal" thin weight to average weight with the proper diet and exercise (to build muscle!).You have to eat healthy, I know it's tempting to fatten up with greasy high fat food but it won't give you the proper nutrients and will make your stomach feel worse! I've found cutting out fast food and many processed foods from my diet has helped a lot. I eat as much organic food as possible and eat many small meals a day instead of three big ones. Hope this helps! It'll take time but you'll feel better and try talking to your doctor more so he/she can help you. If they can't...get a new doctor, I did and it worked wonders.
