Question: What are the benefits & side effects of growth hormone replacement therapy?

Answer: In a young person it is effective and has very little in the way of side effects as ot is just repacing the HGH which is missing. In adults, it is a very dodgy suppliment at best. It seems to be the latest thing in bodybuiding circles, Side effects include;- Other possible side effects: Acromegaly, Edema and Fluid Retention, Liver Damage, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Painful Joints, Gynecomastia (enlarged breasts in males) Acromegaly is a dangerous disease with increased incidence of heart attack and death. Other side effects such as fluid retention and carpal tunnel syndrome have also been seen when large doses of the injections were taken. In Dr. Rudman's study the anti-aging and health and fitness benefits were extensive, but there were also side effects due to the large doses he used. Athletes who pump themselves with massive doses of the injections risk this same fate;

Question: What's the difference between steroids and growth hormone (GnRH) replacement therapy?

Answer: well steroids can be vitamins(Vitamin D, cholestrol, estrogen and etc.) you have to be clear on which ones you are talking about.. you have Anabolic(synthetic), which deals with muscule building/skeletalmuscle growth & developed sexual characteristics like shrunk testicles, breast developement, liver tumors, cancer, jaundice, high blood pressure, kidney tumors, severe acne, trembling and etc. Then you have Corticosteroids(drugs) closely related to cortisol, a hormone which is naturally produced in the adrenal cortex (the outer layer of the adrenal gland) adrenal gland is on top of the kidney- produces adrenaline. Corticosteroids act on the immune system by blocking the production of substances that trigger allergic and inflammatory actions, such as prostaglandins- is any member of a group of lipid(fat) compounds that are derived from fatty acids and have important functions in the body. Growth hormone is a Polypeptide(family of short molecules formed from linking, in a defined order, of various amino acids, proteins are made up of one or more of these) hormone synthesised and secreted by the anterior pituitary gland(located at base of skull, and regulates the activities of many glands and body processes) which stimulates growth and cell reproduction in humans and other vertebrate animals.

Question: My son is small for his age. Has anybody experienced any results from Growth Hormone Replacement treatment ? I have been reading about Growth Hormone Deficinecy and Constitutional Growth Delay. Testing for growth hormone seems quite complex and traumatic for a 5 year old. Has nybody experienced anything similar, or seen any response from hormone treatment in children. My son is 5 years old with a bone age of 2 1/2 years. He weighs 15Kg and is 103cm tall. He was of normal weight and length when born !!??

Answer: My Friend Suzanne, I understand your anxiety, after all we want good health for our children, and it causes us great pain to see them suffer. I think your son may be growing slowly. I am no doctor but I assure you that there have been cases where children who start out slow, turn out alright when they're a little older. I'll have you and your son in my prayers tonight. Answer: I think so but I'm not sure only if a person has a deficiency.

Question: how much is the avg. cost of HRT, hormone replacement therapy for men ie. testosterone, growth hormone etc.? hello, if you have experience with male medical hormone optimization and have used testosterone/growth hormone for health reasons, can you tell me what your experiences were like? engergy, fat loss, rejuvenation etc? also and mainly, how much did the long therapy cost on avg for 6mos or 12 months of therapy?

Answer: First of all why you want to go for HRT.It is a life time thing.Where are your testosterone levels at.You must order a full male hormonal panel to your doctor.Age is important factor,if you levels are low for your age,then something is not right.First find the cause of low testosterone.It can be due to depression,sleeping pattern,bad diet.Most doctors check for primary and secondary hypogonadism.If you are primary(problem is with testicles),then HRT will help.If secondary,it could be problem with pitituary gland or high prolactin levels,depression,bad diet.Don't go for HRT easily,find cause man.Common criteria for finding primary/secondary hypogonadism is through LH,FSH,Esradiol levels.If these are elevated and test is low,there is a high chance of primary hypo and most people are sterile in this condition(search klinefelter syndrome).In secondary hypogonadism,A person has low test,normal/low LH,normal/low FSH and low testosterone.Most doctors know nothing about HRt.THey will prescribe you androgel to apply on your body,which is weak and mostly don't work.You need to use HCG with testosterone so that your balls keep working.First find the cause,ask doctor for full male hormonal test.Try to elevate testosterone naturally first.Most important thing in HRT is the physician.

Question: What do you think about natural hormone replacement treatments? Have you ever heard of or visited the clinic which offers bioidentical hormone replacement treatments? Any experience with human growth hormone treatment?

Answer: I have had very good results using natural bio-identical hormones at a specialty clinic. I did not use HGH though, so I don't know about that.

Question: Does hormone replacement therapy cause weight gain and/or breast growth? I may have to go on HRT depending on the results of my estrogen/estrodiol (progesterone was already found to be low) test and am wondering if it causes bodily changes like the aforementioned? Albeit, I could stand to gain a little bit of weight but would rather not have it be as a side-effect of medication. I'm still very young, only 20 years old, and why this happened to me remains a mystery. Thanks all.

Answer: Hey, Don't fret too much. If you are seeing a Doc then the the test and that are needed. As for going on HRT, depending on what the other test come back like you can expect to gain a little bit of weight and yes the size of your bust to grow. Now normally the doc will not allow you to be on it for that long I would bet they are thinking to put you on it for X amount of months and then slowly take you back off it because of your age, I would guess that they are hoping that it will jump start your own bodies ability to make the right hormones!

Question: My son is 7 and has been recommended for growth shots? He is the same size as the kindergarteners and his Endocrinologist is recommending growth hormone replacement. He has been in the 0%mark for the past 2 years, and all his tests have come out normal. What are the risks....I'm having a tough time with this decision??

Answer: NOOOO!! Dont do that!! I say wait besides boys dont stop growing until they are 18. Dont listen to that idiot doctor and get a secone opinon. Horomone replacement isnt always a good thing!!

Question: Can thyroid replacement hormone cause hot flashes? I started taking it about a year ago and about 3 months later started having horrible night sweats and hot flashes. (I didn't know what it was at first) Now I have hot flashes all the time. I am taking the hormone to reduce the size of growths on the thyroid for biopsy...

Answer: Your age ? Thyroid hormone replacement can produce this symptoms but NIGHT sweating+hot flashes could be due to other medical situation ,too . Hormone imbalance can produce such symptoms but there is no predilection for time (night) . Do you have any lymphadenopathy ? , Also you must be checked for TFT,ESR,PPD tests .
