Question: What causes psychological shock in humans and how is it preventable? Not electrical shock, but the kind of shock that often kills animals attacked by other animals.
Can this kill you as easily as it can kill animals? Can simple anxiety cause it because that's scary. How can I prevent this ever happening to me? Thanks.
Answer: The only way to prevent it would be to be able to predict the future. If you are exposed to something more horrible than you mind is willing to accept it goes into this state of shock. I think that it can certainly kill people, and I have seen people turn into something of another reality from it. You have to wonder if they want to be here, and deal with an ongoing hurricane of emotions. Life for these people; no matter the length, is much to long.
Question: How do you shock someone when shaking their hand? I mean like electric shock, you know how you touch something and it like shocks you? I mean like that, how do you do it, not counting the obvious toy things.
Answer: It's because you are building up static electricity as you walk. When you touch this person, that electricity arcs from you to them.
Question: How do you treat for shock in the following animals? how do you treat for shock in a hedgehog thats 120g and has been found in September?
how do you treat shock in a badger cub that has been found at the side of the road?
should be a category for wildlife & rehabilitation!
Answer: Sane applies to both you need to cover them with some thing warm. Then seek help
Question: Can you get a electric shock from a car battery is the engine is off? I want to change headlights in my car, i will have the cars ignition turned off when i do it, i see wires around, i dont want to get shocked in anyway, can people die from recieving a electric shock from a car battery. With the ignition off or on? Or just on? Thanks, just curious really.
Answer: no a car battery wont kill you the key in this situation doesn't matter the headlight switch will be controlling power to the wires your using. ive leaned my sweaty arm across a positive battery terminal & the ground its pretty uncomfortable kinda burns but not deadly p.s. my car has 2 1000 amp batteries if that wont kill ya seriously doubt any 1 battery can
Question: How do shock absorbers stop an automobile from continually bouncing? Hi, this is one of my homework questions, and I can not seem to find the answer to it.
It's ... How do shock absorbers stop an automobile from continually bouncing?
Please help me explain it in detail :)
10 points goes to the best answer!
Answer: its very simple...
when you pull the shock absorber in both direction you'll notice its kinda hard to... the air and oil inside the shock absorber act as a cushion to lessen the movement of the vehicle
Question: What do shock absorbers on a tennis racket do? I know the absorb shock (obviously) but i was wondering if they increased power or control or something like that.
Thanks in advance.
Answer: They look pretty.
Question: What team will shock baseball fans next year and how? Any guesses who shock fans? What last place team this year will get better? Are any of the 07 playoff teams gonna have an off year? What do you think will happen next year?
Answer: The Dodgers are sucking right now but I think their young talent will come back and fight next season. They have alot of talent but I think theyre just crumbling right now and they need time to get themselved back on track.
Question: What are good shock absorbing materials that are household items? for my egg drop project, i need materials that can absorb shock. materials such as bubble wrap, balloons.. and any others you can think of!
Answer: Take a coffee can and fill it part way with sand or cat litter. Put your egg in and fill it the rest of the way . Tape the end shut with duct tape. The sand will absorb the shock because it's moving at the same speed as the container and egg. I did that for two of my daughters and it took 3 drops before the tape came off allowing the sand to come out.
Question: What is necessary for one to feel an electric shock? When touching both the positive and negative ends of a battery that is about 9 volts, I feel no electric shock or current running through me. Even when I put 4 batteries in series to get a total of 36 volts, I still feel nothing. However, if I were to stick my hand in an electrical outlet which has 120 volts of resistance, I would imagine that I would get quite a shock. Could somebody please explain what the difference between these two things are, that would make one shock you and the other not? Thanks!
Answer: There are a number of issues here. I will start with a simple one:
There are not 120 volts of resistance. 120 Volts of potential.
Try taking a digital multi meter set to measure resistance, one probe in each hand. See what it shows - VERY high resistance.
Take your nine volt battery and touch it to your tongue. Feel it now (yeah, really do it, just tingles).
If you were to stick your finger in a light socket (DON"T DO IT) it isn't going from one hand through the arms and shoulders, it just passing from one spot on a finger to another spot on the same finger - much less resistance. (BTW, I have done this once, knocked me off the ladder I was on - not good).
Another difference between the battery and the light socket is DC vs AC. Our bodies conduct AC much better than DC because our nervous system is attuned to AC. Small AC currents can be VERY dangeous becasue they can travel the nervous system to the heart. Higher currents will burn first (and still might do more).
Hope this helps
Question: Why did I get electric shock from digital camera with batteries out? My digital camera was running strange, and even though I know nothing about cameras I took out the batteries and thought I would unscrew the back and push all the parts in if anything had come loose. I pushed in with both thumbs and had an electric shock. How could that have happened when it didn't have batteries in?
Answer: it stores up the energy in capacitors and there is probably a 300 volt capacitor in there so it might have hurt a little
i learn this from experience i took apart a disposable camera trying to make it into a tazer but it didn't really work out for me lol
Question: What is the difference between a square shock dampener and a long shock dampener? Is a long shock dampener better than a short square shock dampener, or is there any difference??
Should i buy a shock dampener, if my racket already has one?
Answer: I prefer longer dampeners, but i really notice no difference(maybe because i use a leaded Head LM prestige..)
Question: How would a favorable supply shock affect price and output in the short run? I know in the short run, a favorable suppy shock would cause prices to be lowered but what does it affect output? Would output increase because of competition and demand or decrease along with the price?
Answer: draw a basic supply curve and demand curve and shift the supply curve outward.
It is obvious that P decreases, but Q increases at the new equilibrium relative to the old equilibrium
Question: How long does it take to recover from shock? I fell off a ladder this morning, but thankfully uninjured. Having said that, the shock must have affected me, as i noticed my body is still a bit shaky and stiff (from shock) now, 10 hours later. Will I be ok by tomorrow?
Answer: Well, it depends what you mean by shock.
from bbc web site..
What is it?
Shock can mean anything from a minor surprise to a fatal collapse of the body's circulation.
The most important distinction to make is between psychological (or mental) shock and physiological (or circulatory) shock.
* Psychological shock can occur after a physically or emotionally traumatic experience but its effect is on your state of mind
* Physiological shock is a dramatic reduction in blood flow that, if left untreated, can lead to collapse, coma and even death.
Now it is most probable that you are just a bit emotional after the fall but physiologocal shock is something that you shouldnt mess with. That said, it is highly unlikey that you would have physiological shock after 10 hours without some nasty internal injuries but if you start feeling dizzy and get very pale with blue lips or tongue then get to a hospital quickly.
Either way call nhs direct on 0845 4647 (http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/) as i dont want have missed anything on this one
Question: What is the relationship between shock and mass? A 20 kg mass and a 40 kg mass are dropped at a height of 1.2 metres above the ground. Will the shock measured (using an accelerometer) by both masses be the same?
Answer: Assuming that the masses are the same size, shape, and material construction, then yes. The shock is generated only from the change in velocity over time and is not related to mass. The velocity before impact is also independent of mass and is only related to drop height.
Question: How can I tell if my car needs a new shock or if the shock tower needs to be rebuilt? My '84 Toyota already had one rear shock tower rebuilt. My bf thinks the other one needs done but since the car passed inspection in August I tend to doubt that it is that bad. The car does have a clunking sound back there when I go over bumpy parts of the road but I'm not convinced it's the shock tower. Could the fact that it is so very cold here have anything to do with a car being clunky?
Answer: ...Here goes: Check the height of car on suspect side compared to the repaired side. Is the tower intact? Free of rust through?
Is the shock or strut leaking oil? Are the rubber bushings (top or bottom) still there and intact? (not disintegrated). Is shock bent?
Is there intermittent rubbed off marks on the tire? A worn shock will make the tire bounce off the road and wear some "skipping" type of marks. Bounce on the car with you and someone then let go.--the car body should stop after 1 or 2 bounces. Good Luck
Question: How can I find a cheap way to send an electrical shock through water in a petri dish? I am doing a project on planaria and I'm planning on conditioning them with coupled light flashes and electrical shocks. I wanted to know if there is a cheap way i could produce a small shock with household items or by picking up something simple that could shock the planaria and yield a response but not kill them.
Answer: if you want to send the shock through water, just get a battery, you can determine whatever voltage you need for this application, get put some wires in the water and that will shock the bacteria
